I have to say that Frank was ok on this one.

[...] any form to the TARP funds. Half way though the tables are turned on Mwister Bwarney Fwank. And, he just can’t handle it. Some thoughts: You know the economy is really in tatters when the liberal media start to turn [...]

Bryan   June 11th, 2009 - 1:28 pm

He is in an atmosphere now that if you do not completely agree with him he just walks away. The Democrat party runs the government with no checks at this point and they can do what they want. And we will be paying for it with huge interest rates increases and fuel price increases. Do you here any of the Liberals complaining about the price of oil?

BILL5321   June 11th, 2009 - 1:30 pm

Limit Union Management pay is a must!

If CNBC will play these two Barney Frank views – back to back – and then engage in a conversation of what the history is here, Rep. Frank will be history.

Hey John, do you think MSNBC is starting to do their job and report ALL the news? Not just what Obama wants us to hear. All is not well in Washington? Surprise Surprise

John   June 11th, 2009 - 2:41 pm

How dare CNBC question the great and powerful Barney Frank. Hey Barney, you better stick with the kool-aid drinking mainstream networks. You won’t have to worry about things like actual probing questions there.

jay   June 11th, 2009 - 2:44 pm

He gets his ruffles in a bunch and leaves whenever he is opposed. This happens regularly in this party, they leave or (my favorite) talk louder, Because we all know the louder you talk the more likely it is to be right!! (Tongue firmly planted in cheek)

Mary M.   June 11th, 2009 - 2:53 pm

Although I am not a fan of manufactured consent [meaning all media since they work for conglomerates who sell listening, viewing, and reading audiences to advertisers], I laud this stock reporter for having the “guts” to stand up to this hired man. Another aristocratic politician that needs to be dethroned. He, historically, along with all those politicians that continue to hide behind their storied past and not fight against the complacency surrounding the edifice that has now become our representing body, is part of the problem. The other problem is the government, both democrats, republicans, and their spatial location.

Recall that the designers of the Constitution worried that the aforementioned three entities would wield such enormous power until the P in “we the People” would become obsolete. Prescient statements coming from dead old “White” men [now we see why they are under attack] predicted what has taken place over the last sixty years. The sad part is that this current congress [yes little c, not big c] is a culmination of this aristocratic ideology.
We the [P]eople need to come together collectively in praxis [physical movement, meaning marching on their turf, Washington, D.C], in addition to voting them out of our government. Until these two things are achieved in concert, we the [P]eople will continue to be left out of the true political process. Instead of a divided tea party happening in multiple states, we have to take it to the source, Washington D.C. Dare I say, take a page from history [experience] of the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. Are not our Civil Rights being slowly eroded? Is this not a call to shake [c]ongress back into the business of the [M]any and not the few?

Hobbes, Locke, Hume pontificated and defended it best when they philosophized that [P]eople came before government. Think about the following comment:Disparate from the philosophical riddle “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?” that raises questions regarding observation and knowledge of reality. The government knows [hoping that you do as well] that it ceases to exist if it has no people. Essentially, the people can exists without a governing body, which means that we the [P]eople have the right to assembly as you will to challenge the government by any means.

I challenge you to read the Great Rehearsal and the other books concerning government and then act accordingly. We have the internet and unlike the 1960s, we do not have to wait for snail mail to blast the word to the mass populous. However, we do need to organize across party lines because this is our last area of defense for us the [P]eople.

Linda R   June 11th, 2009 - 2:56 pm

Isn’t it the height of irony that Frank blathers on about shareholder rights and how boards aren’t doing their job to rein in CEOs (albeit about compensation) yet he never cares about the 50% or so of American taxpayers (shareholders) who aren’t happy with the board (Congress) or the CEO (Pres)? He says he cares about the little people….but clearly doesn’t in the broader context.

What a windbag!

Karen R   June 11th, 2009 - 3:17 pm

Nobody in a capitlistic system should be directing what anybody’s pay is. If a company doesn’t manage itself well, then down it goes and it’s replaced by the competition.

Government salaries are a different story. They are servants of the people (a little joke there), and since they do not produce one iota of capital produce for sale or exchange, their compensation is left to the PEOPLE of the United States. But – a note on Barney Frank.

With each and every ridiculous dictatorial, fascist, executive or congressional MANDATE that is passed, with each new “czar” appointed (unelected and unconfirmed), the government in D.C. is becoming further and further detached and detested by the American taxpayer (I make a distinction here between American “people” and American “taxpayer”).

It would be a really good time for Barney, the walking, talking contradiction and corrupt bureaucrat, not only to walk off the CNBC interview, but to resign as well. Better to resign now than have to “flee” later when the people with the pitchforks have had enough. And it won’t be long until they have had enough.

Steve Gonzalez   June 11th, 2009 - 3:19 pm

Barney Frank sickens me. A mainstream media commentator FINALLY stood up to him and refused to let him mischaracterize the question – dems are so brainlocked on the “say nothing, do nothing” line of defense that they use it even when it’s clearly not the question – so his response is to take his ball and go home, refusing to answer the question. I thought he was an elected representative ? aren’t journalists suppose to question elected reps so we the people can get answers ?

What an extreme embarrassment he is, and how pompous – he mischaracterizes the reporters’ question – and gets called for it – and he leaves in a huff.

Vote them all out next election. Pelosi, Frank, Dowd – all the “lifelong” congress members who feel they don’t have to answer questions unless they’re ‘puffballs’ from Matt L., Katie, or Chris Matthews. If you can’t take the heat, get out.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   June 11th, 2009 - 3:27 pm

America…Barney “the weiner” Frank is a crook and deserves to be thrown out of office.

He is a disgrace to his constituents and needs to be in jail not in Congress.

But he is not alone…there are others like him in both parties that need the same fate.

Put them, voters in America, on the unemployment lines where they put your dad, your mom, your brother and/or your sister!

They deserve the same sentence that they imposed on other Americans by following, blindly, the policies and programs of Bilderberg Bush-Obama who is seeking to destroy our country from within.

The madness must stop and stop now!

Send them packing!

======================

JUST ANOTHER PATHETIC DAY IN THE ‘REIGN OF BARRY HUSSEIN’ AND HIS BILDERBERG DEMOCRATZI AND REPUBLICAN HENCHMEN DOING HIS DIRTY WORK BY LYING, SPINNING AND VOTING FOR EVERY DAMMING POLICY AND PROGRAM INSTITUTED THAT IS DESTROYING OUR GREAT NATION AND IT’S DEMOCRACY!

William   June 11th, 2009 - 3:36 pm

So…this is what Elmer Fudd sounds like when he gets angry! Why would anyone ask this person any sort of question about something as important as finance when he himself couldn’t control the activities in his own dwellings when it was shown that they were being used for very naughty purposes?

Nitro   June 11th, 2009 - 3:39 pm

When Bwanney spoke of the CEO’s and the board being joined at the hips…I understood that!…Kinda like Obama, his minions and czars being joined at the hip…and screwing the shareholders, in this case “We The People”

Jim   June 11th, 2009 - 4:13 pm

Barney needs to hang it up had go back to his banana farm…

Dan   June 11th, 2009 - 4:19 pm

Well said Mary M.

For the first time in my adult life I’m becoming ashamed of my country. What kind of citizens vote for these people? It’s pathetic. Something needs to be done to the political class as a whole. Is it too late? Are the People already obsolete? Sure feels like it.

SMB   June 11th, 2009 - 4:38 pm

Congratulations Mark!!! Frank is a rude WINDBAG…how CAN one get a question in once he gets going. He loves to listen to himself preach. Good for you!

Frank and Dodd caused this mess   June 11th, 2009 - 4:41 pm

Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd caused most of the financial system ills we’re dealing with.

Let’s limit Congressional pay and pensions as a next step!

These fools need to go.

sam mikhail   June 11th, 2009 - 5:05 pm

How dare Barney Frank walk off the set when someone challenges his thinking? Does he think he is infallible and accountable to no one? The arrogance of this man (I use the term loosely) is disgusting….

Rubicon Cross   June 11th, 2009 - 6:00 pm

Was that Barnie Fife? I guess he had to go and service Goober…

Robert Timsah   June 11th, 2009 - 6:15 pm

They think they represent themselves and will never be held to account. Oh they will be. It’ll just take time. If California is no longer a state, maybe then we’ll be rid of Pelosi and this major loser. He’s an insult to our founding fathers.

William   June 11th, 2009 - 6:22 pm

Once and for all people…It is pronounced Bwarny Fwank. I have to wonder why this congressman doesn’t hire a speech therapist. Then again, with his temper-tantrums I think just a therapist might be a good investment.

Paul   June 11th, 2009 - 6:34 pm

Barney would certainly know about being “joined at the hip”…lol

Dave   June 11th, 2009 - 6:41 pm

Watch the entire interview. NBC’s style here is aggressive and confusing. They come at barney with at least 3 different “interviewers” who only say some negative thing about his plan, he responds, and they get another “interviewer” to bring up some other unconnected argument against what he is trying to do. I thought the interviewers were hostile, and I don’t blame Barney one bit for simply ending the interview after he had enough. All he is trying to do is make executives accountable for their actions to the shareholders. What’s so bad about that?

James   June 11th, 2009 - 6:45 pm

Do we want to lose you? Yes.

Tina   June 11th, 2009 - 6:53 pm

I swore before the last election I’d never vote for a Republican again. Then McCain added Sarah Palin. So, again I voted for Republicans. Big Mistake. I don’t care who runs next time, unless they have the balls to run on an Independent ticket, they will not get my vote. Throw ALL of them out, R’s & D’s alike. I feel like I’ve awaken in the Twilight Zone. NO MORE!!!!!!!!

for parity   June 11th, 2009 - 7:02 pm

Dave.. They’e not being aggressive on Franks. If they’re being agressive (I mean, doing their job) they’d simply play these two videos for him, and remind him that he is a lying sack of it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW5qKYfqALE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFVd6CKcipI

He supported all that caused the housing bubble, which led to the credit crisis. For years, he attacked and smeared all that tried to warn us and to regulate this process, while denying that we had a problem, while calling for even more of it, and now, after it’s all come crashing down, and millions upon millions of lives have been ruined and the world economy is in a crisis, he blames it all on the other side?

George   June 11th, 2009 - 7:14 pm

Yeah! Hooray!! Thanks Mark!
Mark cut to the chase with”The Banking Queen”.We need more reporters to stop being so Kissy-Face with all the Washington demigods who pontificate their progressive agendas. I have never seen Mark have a “thrill run up his leg” and have always admired his down to earth demeanor.

Tina   June 11th, 2009 - 7:18 pm

George! Thank you for the smiles, you are So right! (thinking you got banking queen from Rush)- I love it! Lalala Banking Queen!

labeau   June 11th, 2009 - 8:20 pm

I do like mark, and I hate barney frank, but that doesn’t mean Frank’s is wrong on this one.
The board is too close to the chairman, and they can all vote themselves a raise, even when the company fail.
Did you see what the CEO from K-mark did before, he was booted, I wouldn’t care of they booted me, if I could slim millions before I was fired.
In fact most of the companies that have failed, the CEO CMOB, and board members left with millions, why would the care of the company goes down.
Sorry, the gay-fag guy is right.

David   June 11th, 2009 - 8:25 pm

Yep, typical Righties thowing around the “banana in the butt” and “queen”.

The true biggot, racist nature of conservatives is so very easy to see…you would think they would try to hide it a little better.

What a bunch of mindless apes. No wonder you lost all the elections so bad.

Peter   June 11th, 2009 - 9:05 pm

It surpwises me that anyone feels they should have such control over others, yet be so unwiwwing to have their views questioned. Pwetty routine liberal siwwiness.

Unfortunately, it’s going to ruin capitalism and change the world for the worse and there’s probably not much any of us can do about it.

Eric England   June 12th, 2009 - 8:02 am

Frank the number one person responsible for the housing mess, by forcing Fannie and Freddie to make subprime loans, is now gonna get into the business of dictating pay. Guess what? The new pay czar does not need your advice nor does he answer to anyone, other than the President, when it comes to setting anyones pay. They are out of control. 21 czars??? This is crazy! Please visit my site http://www.ThePorkChop.com Thanks.

dsm   June 13th, 2009 - 1:07 am

I don’t see how Barney can say that they kept asking him the same question. I think he missed the point and I blogged about it here:
