In Texas v. Johnson, the Supreme Court held that it is unconstitutional to ban the expression of particular political views through the burning (or desecrating) of flags. Mr. Lynch is guilty of destroying property of negligible value (A replacement flag). He was not found guilty of any other offense. Hence his punishment far exceeds the guilt of his actions. He was punished for being politically incorrect at UNM, striking a foreign flag, where Old Glory should fly. Had he burnt a US flag, or his Air Force identification card, what would have occurred? Probably no arrest. If justice is to served, a contemptible university act must be condemned, and sanctioned. A center for the free exchange of ideas, lied with cloth, then used armed police to enforce the lie against a veteran. Careers should end.

When reporting it to your congressmen, ask that Federal funds be withheld from whatever federally funded institution is committing that desecration. That is, fight the b*st*rds on their turf.

While I applaud your action and your service to our country, as you discovered, everyone except patriotic citizens take priority here these days.

You might also consider writing to patriotic publications as well. The Patriot Post is a good one; you might ask them for a list of others, too. Foxnews is another decent outlet where balance is still considered to be the airing of both sides of issues; you might find a sympathetic ear there as well as help with getting that institution de-funded.

Sad as the situation has become we can still fight back and the best way is through the b*st*rds’ pockets. A state university most assuredly receives federal funding and that funding can be taken away for federal violations. Displaying foreign flags above the national ensign is such a federal violation. You were correct in your assessment of that. I know that because I served four years in the US Marine Corps, more than half of that time at Marine Barracks where flag protocol was a top priority among many top priorities. If another country’s flag is displayed it must be flown at equal height and on a separate pole along with the American flag; in no case should a foreign flag be flown exclusively anywhere in public except at an embassy or consulate of that country. For a university to have any flag flying exclusive of the American flag is more than a national disgrace, it is a violation of federal law regulating the displaying of the flag; and that university should also be shunned by all Americans.

Thank you for shining a light on this liberal treason. It grieves me that you were penalized so harshly by a federal judge. While destroying private property is perhaps not the best way to have dealt with this travesty, that judge could have shown more patriotism by having you replace that flag and fined you the equivalent of one peso; in my honest opinion, that would have served justice and sent the proper message. It would not surprise me to find that the judge in your case was a democrat appointee. I have come to expect little more from them.

The United States of America is dead. The only thing left to do is give the constitution a proper burial. There is no cohesiveness, no unity left whatsover. Every person for themselves. Maybe we should give the southwest back to Mexico. Then take a census in the rest of the country, make sure everyone left is legal, and place land mines all up and down our border. That’s what they do outside the U.S. base in Cuba. If it’s good enough for the Cubans, it’s good enough for Americans. Perhaps then we may get a handle on illegal immigration.

Let’s see. The last time I saw a map, New Mexico was part of the United States, not Mexico. So isn’t it logical for the American flag to be flown on the campus flagstaff, not the Mexican flag. Also, this man served in armed forces of the United States of America, not Mexico. He took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, not the Mexican Constitution. Unfortunately, political correctness rules this nation. Alas, what a shame. I say to hell with political correctness. Great job, I find it interesting that people can burn US flags all they want but when something happens to a Mexican flag somebody has to bring up racial overtones. So when the US flag is burning what race is being defamed. A University should have enough sense to know how to fly a flag properly. I am sure that they get some sort of US Government support, or maybe they should look to Mexico to support them.

Glad to hear that he took down the Mexican flag, but he should have used it for a grease rag! Why was it being flown there in the first place??

It is appalling to see American judges disregarding the law of the United States of America. The judge in this case has openly condoned by his ruling and sentencing, and encouraged the violation of United States Code Title 4 Chapter 1 Par. 7 which states: “No person shall display the flag of … any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof…” This judge needs to be removed from the bench and disbarred.

As a US Army officer I took an oath and never took other oath “ever” that released me from the obligation I took to protect and defend the honor and the Constitution of the USA and the honor of the nation when I was released from active service. Americans don’t realize that the oath of a soldier is life long; it never expires and can’t be disregarded. It is affirmed with the mouth through the passions and honor of the American heart and soul. It is an oath of loyalty, respect and a promise of defense of our national honor in war as well as in peace.

I will be proud to stand side by side with this fellow Vet in defense of this Nation. There is strength in numbers and we need more numbers who are willing to rise to the call and take America back.

When the time comes, I pray that more “true” Americans, regardless of heritage or national origin will take a stand and show that Americans will not take any more abuse and disrespect for our Nation, our troops or our nation’s citizens by any outsiders or anti-American sentiment. There is an internal revolution taking place in America and citizens must all answer the call and stop the infiltration and growth of anti-Americanism and insurgency.

US flag burning and desecration that is committed constantly by fascist, neo-Nazi’s, anti-Americas and Berkley brain washed types in every corner of American society is a common and growing cancer in America. American judges and American citizens who argue to allow this type of illegal activity to continue unchecked without legal ramifications are no different then what this American did to a Mexican flag which holds absolutely no (zero) position of honor or prominence or authority in the United States. He was found guilty for trashing a Mexican flag, but those who violate the American flag are merely exercising their freedoms of speech and therefore permitted to do so under protection of law…. I condemn the actions of the judge who passed a stupid sentence against an American Veteran who could not in good conscience violate his love, honor, respect and commitment to his country. The penalty for TREASON is DEATH! I can think of many officials and citizens who are guilty of Treason in the highest manner. If I EVER see the Mexican flag flying over US soil, I WILL report it to the FBI, the local police and DEMAND action be taken!
