Another example of how poorly Americans are at driving motor vehicles.

I think people need to allow for 2-3 seconds between their vehicle and the vehicle in front of them…you know like you were taught in High School. At 80mph – which is the going rate – you should leave 235 to 353 feet between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
You count
“zero………one………..two………three”
It’s a gap that almost no one leaves…I always try to.
People leave like .25 seconds gap or 40-75 feet….just foolish. So what if it takes you 3 seconds longer to get somewhere.
I got no problem going 100mph, but I leave a 3 sec gap.

Having lived 3 miles from the crash site, I can tell you that even without the brushfire smoke, the fog in that area is so thick in the early mornings, that I-4 should be closed at times. This is not the first huge crash in that area and won’t be the last. People also tailgate (within 10′ of your bumper) at 75-85 mph on that section of highway…. very dangerous road and very aggressive drivers.

I guess in Florida it is ok to continue to drive when you cannot see the road. What a bunch of goats.

What this story failed to mention is the brush fire was caused by a ‘controlled burn’ that got out of control. So isn’t that nice, you lose your life because the firemen screwed up!

“….I’m an excellent driver”

…more like “Uncontrolled Burn”

I live very near this area and I drive on I-4 all the time. People drive like complete idiots most of the time. They absolutely do not take driving conditions into consideration. I’ve seen it pour down rain with near zero visibility and people are still driving at 65 mph! Absolutely insane! And if you are driving at 40mph during conditions like these, they will fly up behind you almost hitting you, then zip around you almost hitting you. Some people drive like they have a death wish. The police need to start issuing some major tickets to these fools on the road or more accidents like this are bound to happen.

I guess you guys down there in Florida are so stupid you don’t know how to set the clocks on your computers let alone control a brush fire… good job murderers. I hope you all rot in hell.
