Cheney Calls for Release of Memos Showing Results of Interrogation Efforts

"One of the things that I find a little bit disturbing about this recent disclosure is they put out the legal memos, the memos that the CIA got from the Office of Legal Counsel, but they didn't put out the memos that showed the success of the effort."

I agree…let’s see the results of this “torture”!

America, the only reason Saul Alinsky Obama released the information of the techniques used to gain information from our captive enemies was to blast, once again, the former administration.

Now…let’s get some balance and find out what kind of information we received from these “techniques”….enough to save the lives of American men/women in America and on the battlefield…you can bet it did!

They won’t want you to know that part though!

JUST ANOTHER PATHETIC DAY IN THE “REIGN OF BARRY HUSSEIN” THE NEW AYATOLLAH OF AMERICA!

What a horrible human being!   April 20th, 2009 - 6:30 pm

Maybe that’s because they couldn’t find any, you vile, twisted creep!

Gandhi's Fist   April 20th, 2009 - 7:33 pm

Cheney nails it. This release–which I don’t mind BTW–is yet another attempt to discredit the republicans via the previous administration. Cheney’s point is well made. Now that the cat is out of the bag, what were the results? No point in holding that back at this point. Unless–gasp–it was so effective that we are still being made secure by the policies of the Bush administration!

That must be it, why else wouldn’t Obama release them? He’s so above political shenanigans, this can only be a nod to Bush’s leadership. So, I’m with Obama on this, “Thank you President Bush.”

mark   April 20th, 2009 - 9:08 pm

here’s the deal…..DICK

You no longer have a dummy to declassify documents for you….should have thought of that before you left the presidency…er…vice presidency.

Ya know Leahey, who you told to “go F___ himself”, he holds your tiny shriveled testes, in his HANDS.

grik   April 20th, 2009 - 10:22 pm

How effective can it be when they found it necessary to waterboard the same individuals 268 times. Cheney is blowing smoke as usual.

More likely Cheney just liked to watch the videos of his minions torturing captives late at night when his wife had a headache.

racerx   April 20th, 2009 - 10:58 pm

Do neo-conservatives even care if torture works? They seem to be a sadistic bunch who enjoy torturing foreign brown people, sodomizing them, and flushing the Koran down the toilet.

GiveMeLiberty   April 20th, 2009 - 11:25 pm

To racerx..did you actually LISTEN to what the vp said? He wants the results of the so called “tortures” released so the public can see it actually works. We put our military through waterboarding time and time again. If they can take it so can the terrorists who torture American soldiers and behead Americans while they’re very much alive!! You libs are so hell-bent on defending the rights of terrorists you don’t give a damn about what they do or would do to us!! You are all a bunch of weak, empty headed idiots. How about a whole group of you fly on over to the mountains of Pakistan or Afganistan and drop in on those lovely, friendly Taliban…then come back and tell us how that worked out for you!

Dear Mr. Cheney,
I commend you for believing that the Obama administration may have some interests in the success of the United States, but I’m sorry to inform you that the Obama administration is too anti-American to publish anything which would imply that the US has done anything successfully.

mark   April 20th, 2009 - 11:55 pm

@Give Me Liberty
If you drop yourself down to the hideous barbaric level of terrorist…why bother fighting them, you have become what you HATE.

America is BETTER than those who torture, not the same.

GiveMeLiberty   April 21st, 2009 - 12:05 am

Mark, I have NO problem torturing those whose only goal in life is to kill every living American. The problem you have is you think we’re dealing with rational thinking human beings who are our equals…. That isn’t the case!! Sometimes we have to do ugly things to survive and if that means torturing those who hate us in order to save lives then so be it. If it makes you feel better by comparing me to them because of how I feel be my guest.

mark   April 21st, 2009 - 12:26 am

@Give Me Liberty
I have no problem with killing opponents on a battlefield. Once they are our prisoners, there are rules CIVILIZED countries have agreed to abide by, the geneva Conventions, which includes allowing Red Cross to act as an arbritor of how prisoners are cared for, Cheney hid prisoners from the Red cross for a MONTH. No epert in interrogation believes torture gives reliable information. Prisoners will say ANYTHING to end the torture. You are as endangered chasing FALSE information as having NO information.
If you believe torture is alright, then DON’T SAY A F*CKIN WORD when a US prisoner is tortured in another country.

mark   April 21st, 2009 - 12:42 am

@Give Me Liberty
That rationale of yours
“you think we are dealing with rational thinking human beings who are our EQUALS”

Is the SAME rationale for every GENOCIDE….ever.

Who the hell died and made you GOD to decide who is a Human Being or your EQUAL?

racerx   April 21st, 2009 - 12:49 am

So how much longer do you all think it will be until the Chinese give the United States an ultimatum to stop getting involved in more wars until the U.S. can make a serious dent in paying off what we now owe China?

mark   April 21st, 2009 - 1:02 am

btw
If Cheney and the CIA were SO DAMN PROUD of the information they got from torture, then why did the destroy over 100 videos of interagations?
hmmmmmmm?

Throw these War Criminals in a hole to await trials in the HAGUE.

Kenny C   April 21st, 2009 - 5:29 am

Why bother…….this war is lost(according to Dingy Harry)……so lets all just sit here and let those man made bad guys take over…..he.he.he…..we can’t do anything that might upset them……lets offer them our heads

Sundowner   April 21st, 2009 - 7:19 am

I see Mark is on a mission to become the next irrelevant liberal poster. Typical liberal move is to step on others to promote yourselves. Look at how many of that evil Bush regimes programs the empty suit is keeping in tact, you twit. Cheney’s response to the empty suit’s argument the water boarding served no purpose and Cheney wants the actionable intel released so the American public can see for itself just how beneficial it was.

Next time you feel like arguing a point make it a point to know what you’re talking about. As it now you are nothing more than the board’s Perez Hilton.

Airwick   April 21st, 2009 - 8:59 am

Hey, boys, if torture is so great why not go all out? Bring back the rack, branding irons, thumb screws, iron maidens, and the rest while we are at it! Burning at the stake is also effective. If out of the mess of “information” we obtained from waterboarding and other “enhanced interrogation methods” we gained some useful information, we more than made up for it with a vast amount of useless information that we had to parse through and check out. The argument for using these techniques is ridiculous. This isn’t MY opinion; it is the opinion of virtually ALL the experts who gather intelligence.

Another argument that this Dick, Cheney, has made is that we are less safe now that we have released details of our “techniques” to “them”. I guess he thinks that “they” will practice drowning so that the technique will lose its effectiveness later. By the way, Dickie, they waterboarded Khalid Sheikh Mohammed 183 times in March 2003. Maybe I am just a little naive, but don’t you think that he would have figured out what they were going to do to him…hmmmm…after the 100th time? And let’s face it, ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-THREE TIMES is essentially our thugs working over their thugs. This was payback and nothing more. THAT is the problem with doing this.

Another flawed argument is that, “Well, they do worse things than that”! So? Is your moral standard set by folks like Torquemada, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and al Qaeda? I would hope not.

Some of you don’t seem to have a problem with this and yet you continue to reference the “wisdom” of our Founding Fathers whenever it suits you. I submit to you that these men would have been horrified that this matter was even debated by our leaders let alone endorsed via some flawed logic. This was the very thing that they abhorred.

Far Right Wing Wacko   April 21st, 2009 - 9:18 am

@Airwick,

That’s exactly why the Far Right wackos are no longer in power and have become so irrelevant! There like a cold sore that won’t go away until you douse it with peroxide. That’s next. Hell, even their beloved John McCain (who I actually have great respect for) was outraged! Stating himself that “A tortured prisoner will say anything to get you to stop, and NOTHING of any usefulness”.

So I say, bring on the reports! And when they prove that no useful info was obtained because of their sadistic actions, watch how fast these hypocritical morons change their rhetoric then! They all just keep digging a deeper hole for themselves and the American people see right through it! ESPECIALLY the majority of us veterans who actually served in battle!

And the Far Right Rethuglican’t Hypocrisy Comedy Parade Continues…………

Let the Conservatives and the Liberals Fight a war hear in the good old USA and whoever wins then the other side should shut thier Mouth.Never
to complain again.

Anybody Up For That?

Larse   April 21st, 2009 - 10:29 am

Of course, sick little Cheney believes what he wants to. All the truths about America’s era of torture will come out fairly quickly now. But what is really fun is that Cheney’s loud mouth out there will further split the poor old Republican party.

We have, Cheney the proven failure, who still might have a voice with big business and of course the Saudi Arabians. They don’t care about any criminal activity and will over look that as long as they make more money. Trying to destroy America worked for them once, and maybe it will again.

Rush controls by far the biggest faction of the Republicans. His appeal to the simple thinker’s of the party is unquestioned. When you need a simple ignorant answer, Rush has it.

The odd Teabeggers. No real leader, but more of a rag tag group who feel they have something to stand around in the park about. Sort of the new Hippie faction of the GOP. While their numbers are very small and their goals are undefined, they are still significant to the Republicans.

Palin – Probably gone now. Her personal and family matters are too much of a mess for anyone to deal with.

Gingrich – A Republican legend in his own mind. Still able to get his face on TV now and then.

Congressional Republicans – Still trying to figure out the connection between cow flatulence and global warming.

There are the Ann Coulter types, but they never did matter.

There is one Bright spot in Meghan McCain. She could become a significant player rather quickly. Although she is young, she does have the ability to generate wide appeal in the vacuum of the GOP. Fortunately, she is a RINO. However, she could help to prolong the GOP. We will keep an eye on her.

It is a good thing Obama was elected to run the country. That leaves the GOP free to spend 100% of their time on these matters…

Praise Jesus! Sarah, Jr. has arrived!   April 21st, 2009 - 10:54 am

Hey, Larse, you over looked something! The Miss California Runner-up!!! I posted this on another site:

Oh-oh! I think that Sarah Palin has just been replaced as the First DeBRiP (Dumb Broad of the Republican Party)! This girl has great potential! She’s a beauty queen (like Sarah), she’s a religious nut (like Sarah), she’s inarticulate (like Sarah), she’s dumber than stone (like Sarah), and the Great Unwashed in the GOP already love her.

All she needs to do now is have a child out of wedlock and it’s a done deal!

Bill Airs   April 21st, 2009 - 12:24 pm

I hope Cheney,Boss Limbaugh,Newt and all on Faux news keep running their mouths.

I hope the GOP infighting continues and they keep having nothing to offer but criticism of Barack Hussein Obama.

Republicans are in danger of consigning themselves to a permanent minority status for an entire generation, and it doesn’t appear as if their situation is improving at all. All I can recommend to Republicans worried about their future is that they turn to history and study the demise of another once-great American political party: the American Whig Party.

I highly recommend the continued daily anti-intellectual liberal-bashing.Try to get others of your ilk to join you.

BTW,More of those tea parties, with their ugly racist signs would also be of great help.

Larse   April 21st, 2009 - 4:40 pm

@Praise Jesus! Sarah, Jr. has arrived!

“Hey, Larse, you over looked something! The Miss California Runner-up!!!”

The lady just stated what she really believed… You are allowed to do that in America, even if it does make a judge wet his diapers… You may not win a beauty pageant saying what you believe in. Many people have died doing the same thing.

If that is ‘all’ the GOP has left to cling to for hope, our job is done ;) Maybe Miss CA can hook up with Joe the plumber and they can start a new political party. With the two of them, they have two more votes than most GOPers now…

Barney   April 21st, 2009 - 6:35 pm

Too bad McCain made the North Vietnamese hide all of their documents related to ‘their’ torture of American successes…

grik   April 21st, 2009 - 7:17 pm

If the Bush administration and Cheney in particular had stopped anything they would have been tooting their horn long before now.

Cheney’s history works against him. He has proved himself a serial liar. In the best light this is just another spin.

Steve F   April 21st, 2009 - 7:42 pm

My, My, we have really brought the “Left Wing Liar Brigade” today Mr. Cheney…could be the truth is too much for them. That has ALWAYS been a hallmark of the Left…”half truths” “quotes taken out of context”. The Left is so used to lying few actually KNOW the truth! (and the ones that do know the truth STILL LIE about it).

Azul Del Fuego   April 21st, 2009 - 10:06 pm

Nothing like VP Dick Cheney for bringing out the liberal wackos on a ranting spree. Let’s take it over the top – what if Republicans pair Sarah Palin with Larry Craig? Could they win? Could they win? pant pant pant! What if…what if the 4th runner up from the Miss North Carolin beauthy padgent was paired with Kelsey Grammer. Would they win? Would they win? pant pant. You f_ckers are ignorant.
First, VP Cheney – like Bush – has enough class to not get into specifics. By declaring anything a success or failure except in the most general of terms, would give our enemys tidbits of information they could use to exploit our defenses. This is unkike Messiah and the New York Times that think it’s important to share state secrets.
After 9/11, every liberal commentator or newscaster said “we’ve entered a new era of terrorism that will be fought on American soil.” They all did – Chris Mathews, Robert Kinsley, Begala, Stephanopolus, etc, etc. They ALL did.
There is a reason we as a country have not had to put up with it since 9/11, and that is the Bush administration’s forceful prosecution of the war on terror.
Are you h0m0s so twisted with fear of conservatives that you can’t even appreciate the safety that you’ve enjoyed for the last 8 years? Use the right side of your brain, please.

mark   April 23rd, 2009 - 3:14 am

btw Azul
YOU don’t begin judging Cheney’s keeping America safe on Sept 12th, they took office January 20th, they had morning breifings in AUGUST, Osama determined to strike in the US, the World Trade Center had been hit before, and planes had been hijacked…still they did NOTHING.

mark   April 23rd, 2009 - 3:20 am

Azul
You know less about brains, than you do politics or torture.
The RIGHT side of the brain is for creativity, and subjective subjects. The LEFT side of the brain is for analytical reasoning.
CHENEY made America LESS safe, many of the 9/11 recommendations were IGNORED by Cheney/Bush.
Our ports are NO SAFER, Cargo planes are NO SAFER, their FIASCO of abu ghraib was the PERFECT recruitment tool for terrorists, they have even expanded to having female suicide bombers now. Ignoring Afghanistan/Pakistan where terrorist were nearly stopped, to go off on the UNNECESSARY Iraq War made us less safe.not to mention BANKRUPTED the economy.
