Get that electric car classified as a motorcycle.
People, do you think we should reduce the use of ENERGY? Electric cars actually waste more energy and produce more greenhouse gases than regular fuel efficient cars!
Where and how do you think the electricity is produced???
Unless you CHARGE that thing with solar/geothermal/wind generated/etc power, you are making things WORSE, not better.
Using electricity storage devices is grossly inefficient.
The answer is to REDUCE ENERGY CONSUMPTION of all forms. But us fat lazy people don’t want to do that.
That Prius is NOT getting 100mpg, because they are not including the fuel used to produce electricity and charge the battery.
RG is right. Drop a cup of gas in a real electric car and I guess you could claim 100,000 miles per cup of gasoline 
But is is a minor leap to cover the roof with solar panels to charge the little car and then you are truly there. If that seems expensive, wait till ‘next’ summer’s gas prices!! 
And electricity is next!
Why hasn’t the cozy relationship between oil and auto powers been the subject of an investigation of their business practices yet?
Think about it. Do you really think Detroit doesn’t have the knowledge to make all cars more fuel efficient?
Of course it does and there is no interest in doing this because the same people making decisions in Detroit are the same ones making mega-profits under these obscene oil prices.
Those who are mostly vested in oil are panicking about what the conversion to other fuels will do to their “capital gains.”
Does anyone really believe the reasons we have these energy crises have nothing to do with money?
