Normally police tasering a guy being held down by six officers might make me raise an eyebrow, but that guy was psycho. He probably dropped some acid before pulling that stunt. I applaud the police.
Granted, we didn’t see exactly what he did, but i think the police used extreme force here, and it was completly unnecessary. I hope he sues everyone involved, and wins… America is starting to look like a third world country more and more every day… Getting tasered for simply asking a question is BS.

Those officers didn’t seem to give him any warning they were going to detain him. They just grabbed him after he was leaving the microphone. He was clearly passionate about what he was saying and to just grab him after he leaves the microphone is uncalled for. The force looked excessive and it looks like it could have been handled a better way. It is not like he was rushing the stage like an indoctrinated liberal with a cream pie!
I did not see or hear John Kerry speaking so I don’t know if that was true. I could not understand what he was saying so I don’t know if that warranted attacking him. I did see that the police were standing right there waiting for him so it all looks kind of suspicious.
What is it with the cops and their damn tasers? As if all those cops couldn’t have just carried the guy out of there? What did Kerry have to say about this? It would have been a very good time for him to put in his two cents worth about police brutality and free speech. But I fear nothing like that escaped his lips. Pity! The reason we’re seeing a lot of cops use tasers is because of the open hiring practices of most departments because of the liberalization of physical requirements by way of the EEOC, EOE, ADA, and the other alphabet soup hiring protections. Hence, they are hiring a lot of out of shape cops into the force these days.
Welcome to the New World Order if a Democrat is elected president. Why did Kerry not demand that the police stop torturing the questioner and release him? The question he asked before being attacked by the police, whether Kerry and Bush were members of the same society while at college at Yale, was perfectly legitimate. He did not appear to be disrespectful, disruptive, or hostile (unlike the heinous vulgarities that spew forth from so-called “progressives” whenever a speaker does not agree with them 100%), and there was no reason whatever for the police to react as they did. The responsibility should be placed squarely on the Kerry crew; police act at the behest of their political masters, and it was a Kerry-controlled event. BTW, I’ve been told that the questioner was actually asking questions from the leftist perspective, and that his previous question was why Kerry did not do more to contest the results of the 2004 election — so for all you “progressives” out there, it seemed to be one of your own being brutalized. Does knowing the politics of the questioner change your perspective of the arrest? If so, shame on you for not treating all people equally before the law.
This is incredible. It’s obvious that this guy was doing nothing more than asking questions and he gets Tasered for it? Unfortunately, suppression of free speech at any and every public venue seems to be S.O.P. for cops in every city and town in the USA, these days. The stunned apathy of the audience, and that idiot Kerry droning on as if nothing was happening, is all too typical of the cowed, fearful people that we have become. From Miami, to New York, to LA, to Philadelphia, public demonstrations (Nafta, FTA, etc) have been utterly squashed by armored, jackbooted legions of local police transformed into brownshirt thugs, themselves breaking many laws, committing serious felonies, and with utter impunity. Not a single police officer here in South Florida was even reprimanded after they completely bulldozed scheduled, and permitted demonstrations at the FTA meeting here a couple years back. Even though a reporter’s skull was broken, and a female attorney shot repeatedly with rubber bullets. Indeed, afterwards the cops took video of themselves laughing and making derisive comments about her, and this included the Commander of the Broward County Police force. He later issued an apology for the degrading words he spoke, but not for trampling on our rights and not for breaking the law. Not one cop was reprimanded, not one fired, not one arrested.
America, stand up and be counted AGAINST this outlandish ABUSE of Police power. This will happen to you too if you allow it to happen to anyone who asks a legitimate, if possibly uncomfortable question of an Elite, Effete Stuffed-shirt snob like John Kerry. There was absolutely no reason that I can see from this video for him to be arrested. The question was conspiratorial in nature to begin with. The guy was not harming anyone or even physically threatening anyone. And ven if he were threatening someone, this is not the way to deal with it. Just appalling. Here is my question – Have we forgotten the importance to communicate and evaluate the situation then act – It seems it is all about act first – asked questions later. No one cop asked him to compose himself -No one cop advised him of disorderly conduct and not one cop tried to take charge of the situation -

The audience was Democrat, and they were CHEEERING and APPLAUDING the assault on this obviously liberal journalism student. I saw very little “stunned apathy” and lots of clapping and cheering.
Whereas as a Republican, I would have been screaming my head off at the police assault, and demanding of Kerry that he order them to release the guy, and defending Meyer’s right to ask questions to that point that I personally might have risked arrest.
That’s the difference between Democrat “free speech” (so long as it toes the party line), and Republcan free speech, which is for everyone but particularly for political speech.
Why did these police officers use so much force? When did it become illegal to ask questions of one of our political leaders? Why did Kerry allow this to happen in his midst, was it because he couldn’t think of a good answer. Figures a democrat would be behind slamming a guy to the ground and tasering him. Moral of this story don’t ask a democrat questions or you may find yourself not only tasered but in jail. So much for free speech in the midst of democrats.

I am constantly amazed by people’s ability to take a 30 second video and make judgements..even without all the facts. Please take into consideration, this was a forum with a high-profile Politician. The young man did not wait his turn for the mic but pushed his way to the forefront and began asking antagonistic questions. He had no intention of asking his question and waiting for a reply, he wanted to rant. A big no-no in this type of situation. This put Security into action, as it should have. It’s important to view this video in two distict sections. The first being the reaction of the police immediately after he finished his questions. It seems that the police were arresting him for asking questions(as for the barging to the front of the line-i didn’t see any line, it looked as if he was the only one near the mic.)which is so unAmerican that it makes me sick. The second part is his reaction to the arrest, he acted like an idiot(fear? publicity?) and should have been removed. Fine. Remove him. However, once an obviously non-threatening subject is pinned to the ground with six cops around him I think the tazer can be reholstered. The little woman yelling at him to shut up as he screams in pain? Uncalled for. Both the police and Andrews acted inappropriatly, but I feel that the police should be held to a higher level than some lefty nut-job. Fire them. If Andrew Meyers would’ve behaved like that during an event for George Bush, the Secret Service would’ve been all over him even worse than campus police was. I think it’s fascinating that any one could see that video, read the article that accompanied it and say that his rights were violated!! Every one of those cops should be disciplined. The one that tasered the guy in handcuffs with multiple cops on top of him should be fired. John kerry should be asked if the cops started that at his, or his staffs, request.
First of all, in watching the video, I couldn’t really see if he was in fact actually tasered. Normally you will see a slight burn mark on the contact point of the skin. I would think that this “prankster” would’ve made it known, through photographic evidence that he was in fact tasered. This smells like a publicity stunt to me. In my opinion, we don’t see enough of the video prior to his outburst. There could’ve been many warnings by the officers before he was being escorted out of the meeting. If that’s the case, they officers handled it fine. But, this is all speculation as we can’t be certain he was actually tasered until a medical report is published.
Clearly this dude was looking for exactly this kind of attention. The cops were standing there because he had been asked to stop and to leave and he wouldn’t, and the people around him were scared of him, so the cops gave him a chance and he kept ranting, so finally they grabbed him.
The WHOLE video needs to be released.

If he disagreed with their actions, justified or not, he would then be able to make a rational complaint. Instead, he pushes and pulls away from a lawful order to comply and ends up getting tazed. He was warned several times (being voiced by the female officer very clearly) so he should have not been surprised. Plus, he screamed like a little freakin’ girl. This whole thing was a show and he knew the police would attempt to escort him out as soon and he got his fifteen minuts. He has no basis to “sue” anyone. His actions dictated the police’s response and they acted appropriately. Take your political assumptions and shove them. While I don’t believe the use of the taser was necessary, this guy did interrupt the proceedings. From what I heard on the news, he pushed his way to the front of the line, and demanded that his question be answered. At most he should have been just thrown out of the auditorium. Then again, perhaps they perceived him as some kind of volatile threat, and thought he needed to be detained until he calmed down. Luckily for him these aren’t the days of Nixon, back in the seventies he would have been hit over the head with a baton like the Vietnam war protesters were when they tried to break up political sppeeches.

Very useful article. Myself & my neighbor were preparing to do some research about that. We got a good book on that matter from our local library and most books were not as descriptive as your information. I am very glad to see such information which I was searching for a long time.
