He should have found a baseball to take out to the mound and hurl at him; that is accepted.

anthilltiger   August 15th, 2007 - 2:30 pm

He needs to work more on his stance he stands too far up in the batters box!!

Yet another reason I don’t watch baseball. They act like spoiled brats over a silly game.

Total lack of self discipline! Needs to spend 5 years playing prison base ball.

p_e_enis   August 15th, 2007 - 3:06 pm

Awesome!!!! I love a great batter taking a hit.

Yeah that was a great thing for little kids at the ballpark to see, you f&%$ing p_e_enis!

Roy Blanchard   August 15th, 2007 - 3:55 pm

Wouldn’t it be interesting if a judge finds that hitting a batter with a ball is assault too?

He should be charged with a hate crime. Is that not what the “reverands” would claim if the colors were reversed.

Blacks have a serious attitude problem.

When their hands aren’t on their crotch, their trying to rob, rape, murder somebody.

Asteric Bonds   August 15th, 2007 - 8:36 pm

I always thought it was both …. cowardly … and insane, when pitchers intentionally attack batters with a shot to the head.

If more batters used their tool of the trade it would no longer be cowardly …. just insane!

smc   August 15th, 2007 - 9:08 pm

Yeah Roy, that would be interesting and it would also be interesting if your question had anything to do with the actual story. I admit pitchers do throw intentionally at batters. The majority of the time pitchers throw inside to get the batter off the plate. So the batter who almost stands on home plate gets ticked off when they’re hit. That’s there problem and no one else’s. This pitcher had a pitch get away and it hits this nut in the calf. This nut had no cause to do anything but jog to first base. He should be in jail, plain and simple.

Violence in sports isn’t justified regardless of the circumstances, they are crimes and should be treated as such. This individual should never be allowed to play any professional sport again and when hes tired in the court system he should recieve a just punishment. The growing severity of these incidents requires a no tolerance policy, there is nothing sportsmanlike in violence on the playing field.

Hey, the guy is black and the others are white, so we have to be understanding and give him a break he was justified because of all he has suffered.

I have to wonder then why aren’t hockey players charged with assualt?

Bottom line the idea of sportsmanship is dead and you can thank the “thug” mentality that has taken over most pro sports.
Like the manager said if you are going to try and hit a batter intentionally you wouldn’t throw a slider.

Glad to see he was arrested, maybe it will start happening more so we can get back to pro’s who play with honor.

Carging the mound with a bat is assault. Hitting someone with a pitch isn’t. The differece is that getting hit by a pitch is something that happens in baseball, getting beaten with a bat is not.
Hockey fighting is a regulated tactic in hockey, but hitting someone with the stick isn’t. Just ask Marty McSorley.

That was awful man!
