It’s realy pretty easy. You have got to get the parent involved. (yeh I made that singular on purpose. Read the inner city stats for yourself) You can get the parent involved by having a drawing at every PTA meeting for a grocery voucher (maybe $200). The parent would have to register twice at each meeting. Once at the beginning and once at the end of the meeting. The winner should be drawn from the previous weeks registrants and yes you must be present to win.

Our country is a disgrace. We care more about stuff than our kids. What we need to do is spend more money for teachers, schools, programs, books, technology and peace studies. We must raise taxes to solve our school problems. We need to go to the open concept of the late 1960’s and let the students study at their own pace, with many rewards and no negative feedback. We need to create high comfort environments that allow for expression.
We must modernize to the 1960’s models.
This is the fault of Bush and the republicans.
We need a stronger central authority. In 1972, I was in my teens in the former soviet union. We had great schools that were demanding and rigorous. You must have a strong state governing authority for this to happen. I hope that Obama or Hillary win because they understand this structure. A strong state is very important to keep the people disciplined and orderly.
JIMBO, I wondered where did they teach you to double space like that? And I am thankful for my children! They have worked very hard and I am proud of them what parent wouldn’t be!The point I was making was that kids dont want to be in the public school environment. That for parents willing to do without THINGS and that are not a one parent family there are options. I wonder why you feel the need to insult me? Maybe and I am just guessin on this one, but maybe if kids had someone investing in them, not just buying them things, and encouraging them and loving them they would be a little more teachable. And helping a kid dream and realize they can do alot better than their uneducated parents if they take their education seriously, and being a huge part of that process is in my humble opinion, wise. Didn’t mean to get ya all angry. Kids don’t want things if they don’t see the point and don’t like the environment. Involved parents can mean the difference.
PS. IT is not just black students. I have been there and seen. Its very easy as a white person to extrapolate form your own experience —its not my kids and assume it is Blacks. This is a problem of White, Black and Hispanic kids. I haven’t seen it with Asian kids but I’m sure somewhere thats true as well. It is particularly an URBAN issue, a CLASS issue and a PARENTING issue.
I heard the mayor say that the key to success is “attendance.” This is absolutely incorrect. The key to success in school is DISCIPLINE. I’m not talking about the slap your hand discipline (although that helped a lot) but the kind of discipline that comes from waking up everyday, washing your face, eating your breakfast, brushing your teeth, putting your clean school clothes on and getting to school on time with your homework finished. We are in the Army and a teacher friend of mine works on the post here and says parents send their kids to school in taxis because they’re too loaded to get up with them in the morning. And this is second grade! Let’s face it America — our government and those in leadership positions don’t want to say the truth — that it is the parent’s lack of responsibility that is taking us down. Also, the court systems/litigation. “I have a right to wear a satanic tatoo” type of entitled attitude. The indoctination that the homosexual movement is shoving down every kid’s throat in public school, the depraved, perverted behavior from the majority of kids these days due to what they see, hear and play from the media/and their lifestyles at home. Give me a break! NO ONE will stand up and say it and those few that do are labeled “radical.” I am not surprised that we are on a crash course downward. I mean, those posted here are STILL saying money is the answer! That is unbelievable. SOOOO, to everyone who will read this — the answer is quite simple while parents still have a right in this country — start pulling your kids from public school. It is better to play board games and teach them lifeskills then to subject them to the depravity that is happening in schools. Then and only then will our officials start listening to the demands of the silent majority. Why do you think they don’t allow vouchers folks? Because everyone would pull their kids from the failing public schools and the private schools would be overflowing! Wake up gang!!! I just told my 6 kids – say goodbye to public school gang!
Any kids who drop out of school have to join the military for 3 years.Solved that problem. NEXT!
We have homeschooled our children and had them tested every year to see how they have done and how well they have matched up against the public school kids. Our kids not only have jumped at least a grade past public school kids their same age but did it with their scores in the high 90’s to off the charts. We have used some great curriculums that are readily available in home school stores or on line. We have used people we know that are public or private school educators to administer the test, and their take is always how well behaved and focused and well adjusted the home school kid they know are. If you’re interested in home schooling and are willing to make the commitment get with someone you know has had success already doing it and see if it’s for you. We love it and our kids love it and there are great co-op’s to work with other families. Some are Christian based and some are secular and most work together. There are alternatives to those who feel their children are more important than a bunch of stuff. My wife and me have only had a small amount of college level education, the curriculums are user friendly and it’s like going back to school and learning with your kids. It’s actually fun!
Look at these monkeys. Clearly this is not a problem White America needs to spend money on – it would just be a waste. These people have no intention of doing the right thing and will only be a drain on society. “No Child Left Behind” means throwing good money after bad – robbing resources from Whites to throw at Blacks but will make no difference in the end except hurt Whites.
Wilber, the homeschooling thing sounds great, I know some home schooled kids and they are not just bright, they are very thoughtful as well. I hope the people in California fight the recent ruling against homeschooling in the state. The NEA does not care about your kids’ education or even safety. All the thug unions care about is butts in seats so they get more cash, the NEA should be immediately abolished.
Why do we expect these black animals to graduate and act like responsible adults? Just lock them up or send them back to Africa.

A large number of kids in our country have no work ethic. They expect to learn and graduate without putting in any effort. I hate to say it but if they are acting like lumps and not putting any effort in just what is the point of having them taking up space or worse actively distracting from the progress of their peers.
It is clear that we have to change things but the motivation and consequences have to be immediate for these kids. Many parents don’t exercise any control over their children to make sure they are doing what they need to do to succeed. Schools have very few effective tools for these children. The kids start out behind and by the time they get to middle school many of them are two or more years behind grade level.

Of course Home Schooling is more beneficial than government schooling! Anytime parents take (more) responsibility for there children everyone benefits. God did not give the government, the church or the athletic team your children. He gave them to you! That is not to say that children can not be successful in each of these environments. The point is a real parent can not just send their child to some institution and hold that institution solely responsible for their success/failure.

Well if you insist on knowing my “qualifications”. I have been married (to the same woman for (one month short now of) 34 years. We have three bio daughters (28-24-18). Our oldest daughter works in a local hospital in the CAT scan department. She has been married for five years and has a 3 year old son. Her husband has been working for the same construction company for nine years. Our middle daughter works for a nationally known Drug store chain as their Senior Pharmacy Tech in charg of opening their new stores in this district and training their new hires. She was married to her husband for 20 months when he was KIA in Afthanistan (GOOGLE Sgt. Buddy James Hughie). Their son is now 16 months old. Our youngest (bio) daughter is currently enrolled in a local college (15hrs)taking courses for medical imaging courses. She also works as an assistant manager for a sandwich shop (about 30-35hrs a week) and on Sat-Sun she works two ten hour days as an assistant Rad Tech in a local hospital.
Additionally, in May of ‘06 DSS placed a two and four year old brother/sister with us under their safety plan. However, their mom/dad will not get fixed so we have started proceedings to officially adopt them. They both call us mommy/daddy and call our bio daughters their sisters.
So I have been involved with the public school system for….gosh a long time. Heck we had a daughter playing varsity high school softball for 13 years running! We graduated our youngest bio daughter from HS last school year and began K5 with our “new kids” this school year.
Now gre123 which environment are you talking about? Are you talking about the physical plant or the individuals inside that physical plant. The physical plant has very, very little to do with the rate of learning a child/student achieves. If there are a bunch of disruptive, misbehaving, don’t want to be there children/students inside that physical plant then you do have a bad environment.
Home schooling is a great idea for those who know who their parents are and have them actually involved in their lives. Home schooling is more than one mom/dad teaching their child(ren). There is an entire industry created for the home schooler. They have group field trips, tests, etc.
These inner city drop outs are perpetuating the legacy of “somebody owes me something” attitude. These drop outs do not have parents who are actively involved in their lives. Much less parents who insist that they attend school and God forbid make them study!
Oh, did I mention that my wife has an MEd in Math/Science.
Now you want to teach me about public school?
It all comes down to what the individual family feels is important. If education is important that will be the priority. If sports are the priority that will be the priority. If the parent feeling like someone else is responsible for teaching their kid then the parent is the priority and the kid is screwed.

Fellow Americans what we need is more of your money for our failing education system. It has to be money because the teachers union told us it was. Even though they have said that over and over, and we are taxing the shirt off your back, they support us democrats so lets give them some more. It used to be a problem when kids talked out of turn or did not raise their hands to speak, and the big one(CHEW GUM IN CLASS). Now it’s Rape, Murder,STD’S, Gangs, Guns, Violence towards teachers and students, Masterbaiting on other students on the bus ride home, Drugs, ect.. That whole 10 comandments on the wall thing was polluting their minds I guess. Well you know the teachers and our PC Police will save us.
