‘Impossible’: Pelosi Dour on Chances of Obama/Clinton ‘Dream Ticket’

"I think that ticket either way is impossible."

That was a really stupid thing for her to say. She would have done better to retain her objectivity on the matter. I know for a fact that if the end result isn’t something that is perceived as acceptable to both camps – Obama and Clinton – you will see droves of people that will stop at nothing to see him defeated. How easily people forget that if you add up all the votes for Hillary along with those of the Republicans, Mr. Obama is clearly outnumbered. He has lied and deceived his way to the top and it may ultimately be his own undoing. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/saywhat.asp

Dan Collins   March 11th, 2008 - 3:01 pm

More importantly, it seems as though Scott will be owing Liz $100.

justice-serve   March 11th, 2008 - 3:35 pm

If they the super-delegate rob Obama of this ticket, No way he can stomach being anywhere near these people much less a clinton ticket ,And they would be such a huge public backlash/outcry , SHE will certainly LOSE to MCCAIN ,And Obama will come back in 4 years as the adoring hero on the white horse.. who was done wrong and he will be President. You cant write a better script.

BH   March 11th, 2008 - 3:35 pm

I think she meant “nightmare” ticket.

Britney MacDonald   March 11th, 2008 - 3:42 pm

The “Clinton administration”? Is Nancy living in the 90s mentally?

Good God, we don’t need another Clinton administration. If it comes down to Clinton vs McCain, guess who has my vote?

maz   March 11th, 2008 - 3:45 pm

No brainer, here. Pelosi is die-hard Obamaniac, and besides, there is room for only 1 alpha female in Washington.

Mountainguy   March 11th, 2008 - 4:18 pm

How does the number 2 candidate dictate who is on her ticket? What arrogance, although not surprising at all. I’m sure there would be no way Obama would have Clinton on his ticket as he would have to watch his back as I’m sure she would put out a hit on Obama if she was #2.

friendlyskies   March 11th, 2008 - 4:42 pm

Wow, Pelosi was irritated! Funny. She’d be a great VP. But I hope you’re wrong Mike50. McCain’s already singing little songs about bombing Iran, and the USA cannot afford that, especially not now that Bush’s man in Baghdad, President Maliki, is holding hands with Iranian Prez Ahmadinejad like they’re best friends. McCain’s stated foreign policy goals are just trouble, it would not only be an unwinnable war, it would totally blow the whole spin that we want a stable, democratic Iraq, if we start attacking their elected government’s best pals. Our real rivals – China, Russia, even Hugo Chavez and pals – would love to see us trapped in an unjustifiable quagmire like Iran would probably become. We need a president who understands that the movie “300″ was based on a comic book, not history. I’m hoping for Obama, but Hillary’s got my vote if she’s the Dem nominee.

Heidi in Texas   March 11th, 2008 - 4:59 pm

I’m glad SOMEONE other than Keith Olbermann has called attention to the complete disgrace Clinton has brought to the Democratic Party by endorsing McCain over Obama for CINC experience. She should be ashamed of herself and Nancy Pelosi made an excellent point. To bad the mainstream media isn’t really calling her on it. Maybe they don’t want another whine fest from the Clinton campaign, but that was a pretty big blunder on her part. Then to suggest a Clinton/Obama ticket? Can she have it both ways? Why doesn’t she just tell the American people that she’ll consider putting McCain on the ticket, as that’s who she has more faith in and Pelosi, in a classy way, just called her on it. I’ve never been a big fan of Pelosi’s but she called this one spot on!

Janice M   March 11th, 2008 - 5:22 pm

I bet the Clinton camp, perhaps Hillary herself, will call Nancy Pelosi and get this all straightened out. Nancy will soon be saying that whatever Hillary wants is what just fine. Nancy knows better than to contradict HIllary. She just had a weak moment.

James   March 11th, 2008 - 6:16 pm

You Hillary supporters are such hypocrites. It is funny that you don’t see anything hypocritical at all about Hillary saying that a V.P. should be qualified from day one to feel her shoes and then simultaneously saying that Obama isn’t qualified. It is gross, illogical FLAWS like this that have been and will be Hillary’s undoing. You simply can’t spin two stories at once that contradict each other. I WILL NOT BE VOTING FOR MS. CLINTON IN THE FALL IF SHE GETS THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION BECAUSE SHE HAS VIOLATED NOT ONLY THE PRINCIPALS OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY THAT I HOLD DEAR; SHE HAS VIOLATED THE VERY PRINCIPLES OF THIS GREAT NATION.
Using race, religion, fear and ignorance in her “kitchen sink” approach to politics is not merely a primary tactic that ANY of us will forget. I anxious await her loss. If she wants to act as if she is running in a Republican primary, then I will choose the better Republican: JOHN MCCAIN. Thank you Hillary and Bill!

Tyler Wallace   March 11th, 2008 - 6:51 pm

Nancy does a great impression of Porky Pig ! It’s almost as good as her Elmer Fudd, “I’ll get you, you wascally shrub”.

Friendlyskies: Google the “battle of Thermopylae” (480 B.C.) to read about your “comic book” history. Sheesh, only a Democrat would think that a story about self sacrifice for one’s country is made-up. I LMAO whenever a Dem mentions that they’re the party of JFK. The party of Ted “the swimmer” Kennedy is more like it.

Hillary will win and do WHATEVER IT TAKES to do it, party unity be damned.

Glossy-eyed swooners vs. hippy retreads who want the 90’s back. This is better than any movie or comic book !

Mike in Nevada   March 11th, 2008 - 7:38 pm

Has anyone noticed that Harry “White Flag” Reid is keeping a very low profile lately. Could it be that he recalls what happened to Tom Daschle?
Coming from San Francisco, Pelosi can pretty much say anything she wants. She has no fear of reprisal in the land of “fruits and nuts.”

Dan, St. Louis   March 11th, 2008 - 7:54 pm

OH! and don’t forget Geraldine Ferro [sic} statement today. “If Obama were a white man, he would not be in this position.”

Steve   March 11th, 2008 - 8:56 pm

Nancy, is doing well she can not forget the Clinton Administration now that “Spitzers Private Matter” has surfaced. Somethings never change. I wonder why all the men supporting Hillary need OTHER women to meet their needs?

Texas   March 11th, 2008 - 10:10 pm

The Democratic party has “superdelegates” for one reason….they don’t trust the little people who vote for their party to “do the right thing” in picking the party nominee. So Mr. Union Mann from Ohio, your just too stupid to trust as are you Mrs. African-American and Democrat 4ever from Illinois.

C. Wilson   March 11th, 2008 - 10:48 pm

Nancy Pelosi is going down almost as fast as Spitzer.

Can you O-maniacs still name an accomplishment of Obama’s that qualifies him to be Commander-in-Chief.

I didn’t think so. Nice try bashing Hillary to make your own candidate look better. It is what has been done this whole campaign. You guys can’t fight about substance, because O has no substance. Nothing original. Let’s ask Mass. if they are better off now with Deval. No they aren’t! Obama would have never admitted he borrowed lines if he wasn’t caught. I watched the speech live and you could tell he was taking credit for those lines. He is the hoodwinker.

I will not be bamboozled by his oratory. He is not new politics.

If it isn’t Hillary, then my Dem vote will go to McCain. Pelosi and Obama will be out in short order because one has a big mouth and the other can’t speak for himself.

Impeach Pelosi … the most disliked woman in the House!

JimBo   March 11th, 2008 - 10:48 pm

I couldn’t get the volume to work on this video.

However, I can imagine what Speaker Pelosi is saying.

“Well an Obama/Clinton ticket is just impossible. I mean after all I am the only one who has been to Damascas and sat face to face with our enemies. They are realy nice people and I understand them best. After all when I met with them… I think they realy like me. Obviously I would be the very best choice for Vice President. In terms of sitting and talking with our terrorist enemies I agree whole heartedly with Senator Obama. If asked to fill the ticket I would do so gladly!”

the myers   March 11th, 2008 - 11:17 pm

I COULDN’T BELIEVE MY EARS WHEN HILLARY SAID THAT,YOU NEVER EVER! AND ITS INSANE TO PRAISE THE OPPONENT’ WHICH WAS MCCAIN OVER YOUR OWN PARTY COLLEAGUE,AND THE REASON IS THE REPUBLICANS CAN NOW USE HILLARY SOUND BITE AGAINST OBAMA; SHE IS TRULY A WICKED AND EVIL PERSON.. WHO COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE DNC PARTY. THAT SAYS THEY WANT TO SABOTAGE OBAMA, ITS EITHER US THE CLINTONS OR NOBODY.SAD PART ALL THIS IS TAKING PLACE WHILE THE SPINLESS HOWARD DEAN SIT BACK AND DO NOTHING, I THOUGHT THE PARTY CAME FIRST.. I GUESS NOT.

Zarathustra   March 11th, 2008 - 11:19 pm

In times long since past, allegations hath been tendered that the one they call “Speaker Pelosi” hath recently undergone surgeries of a cosmetic nature. Such past incidences hath provokethed thee ire of thee shrill. But Hark! What, Ho! Yon’ Speaker Pelosi carries upon thine face a skin drawn ever so tight… thy cause must be thine scalpel. For what other cause of merit may designate such a damsel with thee moniker Nancy ‘Stretch’ Pelosi?

Thus, I have spoketh.

Henriette   March 11th, 2008 - 11:25 pm

If you told the Clintons, “Your scorched earth tactics against Obama may result in McCain winning,” they would say, “And your point is…?”

Jay   March 11th, 2008 - 11:27 pm

Did Pelosi say “the Clinton administration”? What a flub. It’s “the Clinton campaign”.

mike50   March 11th, 2008 - 11:31 pm

If they the super-delegate rob Obama of this ticket, No way he can stomach being anywhere near these people much less a clinton ticket ,And they would be such a huge public backlash/outcry , SHE will certainly LOSE to MCCAIN ,And Obama will come back in 4 years as the adoring hero on the white horse.. who was done wrong and he will be President. You cant write a better script.

Bink1   March 11th, 2008 - 11:57 pm

Pelosi told the truth…the clintons have foreclosed any opportunity for the ticket to gain purchase.
She needs Obama—Obama does not need her.

There are no shared values between them–she has no character or morals. Obama is all integrity, charcter and vision.
Floating such a notion was a desperate ploy on the clintons part to try to get wavering voters to come to her side with the promise of both.
Silly- just like her foreign policy experience –there is no there there.

Steve G   March 12th, 2008 - 12:15 am

Why would Nancy care, she gave us an expired terrorist bill, a new lower AMT, and in state tution for illegals! Since her role as speaker the house has passed nothing more than renaming Post Offices, and votes for Vacations!

Democratics at work! Vacation, Hookers and retreat!

Yves   March 12th, 2008 - 12:27 am

It’s unfortunate that she says this (though she’s been the biggest disappointment in Democratic politics so far), since it would actually be good for the country.

To disspell any fallacies that Obamabots would never vote for Clinton but Clintonites would vote for Obama:

If Hillary Clinton is NOT on Obama’s ticket, I will NOT vote for him solo, and opt to sit this one out.

Bob   March 12th, 2008 - 12:33 am

Democratic In-Fighting=McCain’s gain

And I think it will get much uglier for the Dems at their convention. It will be time to get the popcorn ready and pop open a cool one. For once, it will be fun to watch a convention.

John   March 12th, 2008 - 12:59 am

The best thing Obama can do is to say in no uncertain terms there is not a chance, ZERO in fact, that he would accept the VP spot.

Boomer   March 12th, 2008 - 1:06 am

WOW. I bet the people of MexiCali are just beside themselves. Pelosi as speaker of the House is painful enough, but then she opens her mouth and it only gets worse.

Clinton Administration? Wonder if old slick Willy was diddling Pelosi and she just got the campaign and the administration confused. No worry, she’ll be history soon.

Bob   March 12th, 2008 - 1:41 am

What an whack job she is. The top Democrat in the House. She represents them well. Clinton Administration? I wish they would have let her babble on for a while it was just getting good.

Hickok   March 12th, 2008 - 2:13 am

Pelosi does misspeak at times.. Those times include when her Botox seeps through her otherwise withered, wrinkled, leather-like skin into her feeble brain. Nancy Pelosi=Kommunist Kunt.

Robert 4 Hillary   March 12th, 2008 - 2:18 am

NOBAMA………not yet… He needs 8 years to prove he is worthy.

sherry   March 12th, 2008 - 2:38 am

FIRM FACT!.. Obama have more public office experience than Hillary’ go look it up, Obama work himself to this position, without Bill Clinton, hillary would not be here.

She should thank her lucky stars daily. She would still be on the Walmart Board DENYING RIGHTS for workers to have UNION.

Dan, St. Louis   March 12th, 2008 - 3:43 am

How much better can it get for the Republicans, Obama and Clinton fighting, Gov. Spitzer and now Nancy. If I were “the war is lost” Harry, I would be hiding somewhere too! Can’t wait for the convention.

BILL5321   March 12th, 2008 - 4:16 am

From Dublin to Kosavo, major political figures are calling Hillarys statement untrue.

Hillary has made a fool of herself by grossly overstating her international experience.

Plus, Hillary not releasing her taxe statement as required by law. The Chicago Tribune is saying that the Clintons has not paid their taxes on a $700000 insider startup company deal. Ouch!

Clintons never could manage their money.

Tyler Wallace   March 12th, 2008 - 4:33 am

Great Porky Pig impression Nancy !

It’s almost as good as her Elmer Fudd “I’m gonna get you, you wascally president”.

Glossy-eyed swooners vs. retreaded hippies who want the 90’s back.

I can’t wait for the riots after Hillary gets the nomination ANY WAY SHE CAN.

Darrel   March 12th, 2008 - 5:52 am

Hillary will pick Geraldine Ferraro as her VP, and together Hillary and Geraldine will hire Barack as the driver of their Limo.

Yassuh Missus, I be good now miss Geraldine. I be driving you right to your KKK meeting Miz Geraldine.

Hickok   March 12th, 2008 - 8:09 am

It is said that this OLD HAG uses her excess Botox to douche…And her hubby says her thingy still stinks.

kmpk   March 12th, 2008 - 8:12 am

Either way the Democrats get a Socialist Ticket.
Thats right Dems, Socialist. A true vision for America. A proud nation becomes Socialist. The Nazi’s were National Socialists. Big Government everything. Womb to the Tomb government and will make the most productive Americans pay for it. Obama has said his Tax breaks would be for true working American Families making less than $75,000 in household income.

Wow, he therefore has classified anyone making mor than $75,000 as wealthy.

You Socialists make me sick!

Mike   March 12th, 2008 - 8:42 am

I’m glad that the speaker was completely honest in saying that it may have been possible had it not been for Billary saying that McCain would be better than Obama. If she hadn’t said that she would have been on his long list of vp’s.

Al-in-Indy   March 12th, 2008 - 9:22 am

The “Dream Ticket”? Ha Ha Ha! I guess inexperience x 2 is a “Dream Ticket”.

“Half of the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don’t mean to do harm. But the harm does not interest them.”–T.S. Eliot

Robert Seagel   March 12th, 2008 - 10:03 am

I voted for Bush in 2000 and sat out ‘04. It is obvious that the GOP isn’t fit to govern until it has MAJOR blood letting. I’m hoping its Obama, but I’ll vote dem either way.

Global Warming is man-made, dummy!   March 12th, 2008 - 10:36 am

This really isn’t surprising. Pelosi can’t help it. She’s a complete moron. This is what you get when you vote with your a*s*s. Just like her counterpart in the Senate, they have done nothing to better this country, and have instead put all of their efforts into losing the GWOT and assisting in killing innocent Americans.

People who vote for Hussein Obama or Hillary will get more of the same……a lot of nothing.

Flyoverman   March 12th, 2008 - 11:09 am

A friend of remarked that George Bush made an excellent choice for his VP. It’s a method this year’s candidates should consider. My friend pointed out that none of the people who hate George Bush would dare harm him, because they know if anything happens to Bush, they get Cheney. SWEET!

So to John, Barrack, and Hillary my advice to you is determine who do your enemies think is the equivalent of Darth Vader or Cruella De’ Vil. There is your VP. Beauty eh?

Hsu from Jail   March 12th, 2008 - 5:08 pm

Mountain Guy says it all above! If Barack chooses to put the wife of an IMPEACHED lying to Americans ex president on the ticket I WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM.

One to save him from the Clinton HIT machine (think Vince Foster and all the others who have left us) and
TWO because he will have betrayed me about change.

Stay true to yourself Barack and you will prevail.

hwang Wu   March 12th, 2008 - 6:22 pm

Obama and Pelosi should be a dream ticket! VCHD

Bill   March 12th, 2008 - 6:27 pm

Every time Pelosi opens her mouth, she sets back women in politics decades! Good thing she is from SF, CA. She NEVER has to worry about saying anything so stupid that it might cost her re-election. I don’t think anyone on either side would disagree that the so called “leadership” of Pelosi and Reid has been an embarrassment to the Democrat party. As for the election, every candidate is flawed in some way. But the Democrats have no one to blame but themselves. Out of the entire field of possible candidates the 2 with the LEAST experience are now your front runners. Dodd and Biden are vastly more experienced but were pushed aside for Clinton and Obama. You’ve made your bed…

Oh…and the “Clinton Administration”? What an idiot! You think ole’ Slick Willy ever took a turn with Nancy? She seems his type.

P-man   March 12th, 2008 - 7:33 pm

Is anyone out there other than Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama naive enough to honestly believe that if we “play nice” with the radical Islamic world that they will return the favor? They want to kill us and they will stop at nothing until they do. The only thing they understand is the “use of force” against them and the “threat of force.” We either face they “over there” or we face them here.

Just talking about problems won’t solve them either. Neither of the Democratic candidates has a track record for creating solutions to solve economic/social problems. Their only answer is to raise taxes and throw more of our hard-earned money at them, which doesn’t work.

And, how about managing things? Hillary can’t even manage the finances of her own campaign, let alone run the finances of the greatest nation on earth. Her campaign was broke several months ago and she had to loan it $5 Mil. She had no clue how far they were in the weeds. Not a good sign.
