The reason the Republicans haven’t voted in favor of it is because they were physically locked out of any discussion on what’s to be contained in the bill. It’s all a bunch of payoffs to the Dem’s friends and nothing for the Republicans. How can this be good for the American people?
If you took the population of the USA (307,212,123 people) and divided in the Health care budget ($871 billion = $8,710,000,000,000 / year) comes to $28,351.74 per person, per year. I have a proposal: Give us all that money directly and we can get our own health insurance!

Why is not some lawyer on the opposition side suing the leadership of the Senate and House on giving our tax monies to buy votes?
Why is not some lawyer out there saying it is illegal and against our Constitution to take the monies from one to bribe another?

President Obama called the Senate’s “historic vote” over the weekend “a big victory for the American people.”
Hmmm…
Pretty powerful language considering Obama couldn’t say the word “victory” in his West Point speech on war.
It’s not “his” bill, he had nothing to do with it. President above it all sits back and then takes credit for the work of others. Of course when the reform turns out to be a disaster, he will then say it was the work of Congress and nothing to do with him.
The only mistake the Republicans made was to label it Obamacare, and not DemCare. Tarnish the whole rotten crew with it.
eric, this is a Ronald Reagan analysis – but with a math error. Unfortunately you have the cost per person 10x too high. $871 Billion is 871,000,000,000. You used $8.7 Trillion in your analysis.
So the cost equates to roughly $2,800 per person.
But if healthcare was truly competitive, $2,800 per person would buy a lot. If we had tort reform, interstate insurance competition, health savings accounts, and targeted tax incentives, we wouldn’t need quite so much money for healthcare.

If the Senate Health Care Bill becomes law, it is likely to be held up in the
courts. A key provision requires citizens to purchase insurance. The Federal
Government does not have the Constitutional authority to do this. States can
require people to buy auto insurance. But that’s different because a driver’s
license is a privledge, not a right.
Not much is being said about this…not yet.
This isn’t reform. I won’t lower costs. It won’t improve service. It doesn’t expand the provider base.
It doesn’t reform the flaws and massive deficits in medicaid and medicare.
How can the press keep calling this reform? There is no reform in it.
Life is about checks and balances. Americans who dont know this have been underserved by their educational system. Republicans favor business they employ people and pay taxes. Democrats will favor anyone who will vote for them no matter what their agenda is, NO MATTER WHAT IT IS AND NO MATTER HOW IT WILL AFFECT SOCIETY!!! they employ people at your expense and want to keep the pie growing in their favor. This will keep them in power. Any blue state, eg. California, New York, Michigan etc. will tell you what will happen writ large,( across the country eventually). Get informed and know the facts study history, not spin. Remember those who dont learn the first time around will see it coming right back at them. The truth shall set you free. Dont be a patsy.
