Rand Paul’s only mistake made was somehow believing that Progressive Liberals had any interest in his principled, constitutional opinions or his hypothetical take on the constitutional minutia of 40 year old Civil Rights legislation.

He honestly thought, in my opinion, that disagreement and politics aside, Rachel Maddow would take to heart his reasoned arguments and respect him for it. But that is of course foolish. She had no goal other than to look for something to exploit in a negative light.

I think this “controversy” will kick Rand in the pants to step up his game and control his message but he should never stop being honest and direct and he should never back down.
