I keep hearing the republicans did not help from the democrats but I hear the democrats never would listen to the republicans. Which is it? How can we find out for sure. The three or four mentioned above like Snow were trying to be bought just like Nelson. Hopefully our Supreme Court will step in and say parts of the bill are unconstitutional but I have my doubts they will. It’s amazing how Chris Matthews can be so upset about the delays in the Senate voting that are being implemented by the Republicans, because “the will of the people” showed that the Democrats’ philosophy was endorsed by the electorate. I certainly don’t remember him having this opinion when the Democrats blocked George W. Bush’s judicial nominees. It was nice to see that even HE found it ridiculous to still be blaming things on what the Obama administration inherited.

Time will tell how the electorate responds to changing economic circumstances, the debate over health care reform, etc., and I can very easily imagine Democrats taking a drubbing in the midterms. But it seems the Republican Party would be in a much more competitive position — in the short and long term — if its base wasn’t centered in just one region.

The Dems best hope for the midterms is for the Tea Baggers to run their own candidates as a third party.
