It is truly unfortunate that the Bush administration totally dropped the ball on finding Osama bin Laden. Instead of going after the enemy of America, they pursued an ignorant invasion of Iraq and turned it into the worst military blunder of modern times. After all the wiretapping, gulags, torture camps, etc., the fact the Bin Laden is still at large is destabilizing Afghanistan and now Pakistan. It is hard to imagine how the Bush administration could have screwed it all up worst than they did. It will be very interesting if the truth ever comes out as to “why” the Bush administration stopped the pursuit of Bin Laden. It appears to be due to political reasons.

It is now a talking point for the republicans to claim they will save use from all the gigantic mistakes they themselves have made and the danger they have brought onto our country. McCain claims he will protect us from the mistakes of the Bush administration. But who would trust the failures that caused the messes to solve them.

We can only hope that Obama relentlessly goes after those that have endangered our country and brings each and every one of them to justice. From the treasonous Plame affair to the doctored false information used to justify the Iraq invasion, we must find all those responsible and punish them appropriately.

It’s absolutely false to say that the Republicans have done nothing to catch Bin Laden. Every minute of every day when he is not being hounded by reporters or talking to heads of state, President George W. Bush dresses in his flight suit and rides his bike up and down the hills of Afghanistan and Pakistan shining a flashlight into every cave and calling out, “Yo, Omie Homie — hey buddy, you in there?”

And don’t forget Dick Cheney. Haven’t heard much about him lately, right? That’s because he’s on a secret mission in Afghanistan and Pakistan, armed only with a sneer, a shotgun and a spare pacemaker.

Osama Bin Laden has been on the run for only 2465 days. That’s nothing in the global scheme of things. The Veep, who was off by only a few years on how quickly the Iraqi war would be over and only $700 billion off to date in his claim that the war would pay for itself with oil revenues, says he is getting closer every day.

Cheney’s senses are finally tuned, he cannot miss. In fact, this very minute, as we type, he can hear off in the distance someone grunting and panting while engaging in an Arabic chant that sounds like, “Yo yomi homi — ay buhhi, U-endare?”

In 1991, Mrs. McCain came across a girl in an orphanage in Bangladesh. Mother Teresa implored Mrs. McCain to take the baby who had a severe cleft palate. She did so without first telling her husband. The couple adopted the girl who has had a dozen operations to repair her cleft palate and other medical problems.

They have a Family Foundation for children’s causes. She will join an overseas mission of “Operation Smile”, a charity for corrective surgery on children’s faces

She’s active with “Halo Trust” – to clear land mines, provide water and food in war ravaged and developing countries. She serves on the board.

So Obama, how will pursuing terrorists as a law enforcement exercise–including giving Osama bin Laden habeas corpus rights in US courts, solve the problem?

Obama hails the Boumediene decision and proposes going back to the failed Clinton approach of the 1990’s, when al-Qaeda had a whole decade to recruit, arm, and train 10,000 murderers. Obama proposes going back to the failed Clinton strategy which ignored multiple terrorist attacks against US targets around the world (WTC1, Khobar Towers, African embassies, USS Cole)–while issuing indictments instead of destroying terror cells where they breed. Al-Qaeda fine-tuned its 9/11 plans while Slick Willy played his saxophone and enjoyed his intern.

For the safety of America, we simply cannot go back to chasing and jailing terrorists AFTER they kill thousands of people, rather than aggressively preventing the attacks.

Obama, like John Kerry, is the naive September 10th Candidate.

You kind of wonder how Mr. P knows “Terrorists will be dancing in the streets if Curious is elected.” I’m sure he is not an actual terrorist himself but an infiltrator who has wormed his way into a cell after ingratiating himself with its members. (We won’t ask how as we understand it could prove very embarrassing for Mr P.)

Well then, Obama should have no hesitation in agreeing to McCain’s proposal for TEN town-hall style appearances. Here they would stand side-by-side, answering voter’s questions face-to-face–challenging each other’s proposals, record, and statements.

Barry ought to say “Bring it On, Old Man!”

Of course, Obama has not. He has counter-proposed the same old stale three debate schedule. So much for Change.
