Obama ‘Outraged’: Wright’s Comments Should Be Denounced and I Do So Unequivocally

"I am outraged by the comments that were made and saddened by the spectacle that we saw yesterday."

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the Rev. Wright media frenzy to die down. It has been going on for a very long time now.

ed   April 29th, 2008 - 3:08 pm

I am a registered republican, voted for President bush twice. But all I can say is, Obama is winning me over. I just needed to say that.

Angela   April 29th, 2008 - 3:17 pm

If Obama is winning anyone over after all this, then we are truly in deep doo-doo. Obama is trying to convince people that his preacher was a NEW man he saw yesterday and has never spoke like this in his presence in over 20 years of knowing him. C’mon folks…Obama is a typical politician… who will lie and throw friends and family overboard if they get in his way politically….no messianic man here. No better than Clinton, McCain, etc. Move along…

Bam Bam   April 29th, 2008 - 3:20 pm

Ed…you are funny…Obama is winning me over…Bwaahahahahahahaha…to funny.

Margaret   April 29th, 2008 - 3:21 pm

I am glad Obama made this statement even if you are not an Obama supporter you can see clearly that Rev.Wright is not his friend,he is a selfish man only looking out for his own behind, and doesn’t care if Obama gets destroyed along the way.
This a life lesson that can happen to anyone specially in a work place.
I hope this story will go away soon because we are all sick of it, it`s taking time away from issue that we like to hear and affect us all in our daily life, like struggling to make it on a daily basis.

DandyDon   April 29th, 2008 - 3:26 pm

As a democrat who’s never voted republican…I’ve now considered voting Republican due to the spectical of this campaign and the truth it’s revealed. So Obama’s also NOT winning ME over. He’s losing me fast with each and every day he opens his mouth. And Hillary is fairing no better.

2600   April 29th, 2008 - 3:26 pm

And of course the lamestream media will spin this as the most courageous act by a politician ever. It’s like these guys used each other. Obama used Wright to gain the inner city black credibility and Wright used Obama to gain notoriety for his cause. Wow Obama had a chance to remain true to his virtues and stand firm with Wright but he betrayed his 20 year mentor and spiritual advisor…….this is all just political expediency. It makes you really wonder about Obama……is this guy qualified to make any decision? Nobama.

Sarah   April 29th, 2008 - 3:28 pm

With friends like Rev.Wright who needs enemy in this world, and Obama found out that this guy is not his friend on contrary he resents him and is jealous of his success.
Better that he found out now.
Besides a good group of Rev.Wright speaking tour are big Hillary supporters.
What makes Obama think that this pastor was on his side

RAY   April 29th, 2008 - 3:33 pm

Obama threw his grandmother under the bus, and he threw Wright under the next bus. So now Wright throws Obama under the bus. This is like some kind of political Sanford and Son episode. Pathetic.

Peg   April 29th, 2008 - 3:36 pm

Obama must have been aware that most of the Rev.Wright inner circle friends are big Hillary supporters and i am sure now that the pastor has retired and they are helping him on this money making tour in turn of his alliance for the Hillary vote.
What was Obama`s staff thinking.
This pastor will sell you down the river to save himself and for his own advance

Chris   April 29th, 2008 - 4:00 pm

Is this the true Obama, or is the last speech the true Obama. I Pray for Obama and his family and also pray for his political demise. After this election America will be well served to never hear the name, Clinton, Obama or Bush again “Please”.

Lynn   April 29th, 2008 - 4:05 pm

No matter if you are for or against Obama the actions of his pastor were inappropriate against
him ,it`s just not proper etiquette unless someone is trying deliberately to destroy someones specially when this someone is running for the high job of the land

Kevin Andrews   April 29th, 2008 - 4:17 pm

Barrack Obama is an impressive individual as far as intelligence, oratory skills and achievement. But as Thomas Sowell has said… “everything he says about domestic policy is straight out of the 1960s and virtually everything he says about foreign policy is straight out of the 1930s.” Neither era represented positive movement toward freedom and liberty.

Lauren   April 29th, 2008 - 4:19 pm

Obama had no choice but to respond to that so called pastor and i believe that cases like this are not unusual in our everyday life like someone that we think is our friend the next minute they stab you in the back.
I hate to say this but this might not be the last of the Clinton`s because if Hillary will not win she will retry and their daughter is going to run for some sit, as for the others they will be history

LA Doc   April 29th, 2008 - 4:28 pm

OK Obamarama, we believe you. Yea, right. I’m surprised you didn’t get one of your hormonal, “victim” bimbo supporters to “faint” during your so-called denouncement of your pastor of 20 years. What a lying snake-oil salesman.

Dave B   April 29th, 2008 - 4:42 pm

Let me guess. . . . .”that was Obama saying what a politician has to say as a politician” It’s quite amazing actually, that after having a close relationship for 20 years with his pastor, he sees him for what he really is, literally overnight. He’s going to make a great president because he lies with such grace you almost want to believe him. If you think Bush, or Bill Clinton were good liars, you ain’t seen nothin yet.

John   April 29th, 2008 - 4:46 pm

I appreciate Obama’s remarks. It is about time he distanced himself from the pastor who he said he could no more disown than the fact that he is black. Um..nevermind.

give'emhellbarry   April 29th, 2008 - 5:01 pm

Obama’s grace under such despiccable hate-mongering that Wright has been spewing is nothing short of inspiring!

Those who are using this unfortunate spectacle created by Wright (and probably sponsored by wealthy supporters of Obama’s opponent(s)) as comedy-fodder are incapable of hearing the ring of TRUTH in what Obama is saying.

Anyone can misjudge a person and regret it. People do change (deteriorate), especially someone of Rev. Wright’s appalling caliber, which comes through loud and clear: The jerk just wants the microphone; he is a motor-mouth who loves to hear himself speak/shriek. He is a hate-monger and is addicted to hate-energy!

We are grateful and happy that Obama has responded so gracefully to Wright’s disgraceful, disgusting tirades, and we feel “this too shall pass,” and before long we’ll all be addressing Barak as President Obama!

smcacc   April 29th, 2008 - 5:37 pm

I love how the BO fanatics make it sound like he had such a casual relationship with this Rev for 20 years and that justifies BO not really knowing his Rev’s true heart and sermons. The facts are:
1) Spiritual Mentor
2) Based his book upon one of his sermons
3) Part of his campaign until he let him go when the heat started to build to distance himself
4) Married him
5) Baptized his children
6) Attended social events, dinners at each others homes etc to numerous to count
7) Claims that all of a sudden the Rev is acting wrong like these sermons were recent
8) Claims in 20 years of attending church he never once sat in a sermon when this guy was spewing his hate filled diatribe
9) Donated tens of thousands to his church and indirectly helped build his multi-million dollar mansion to help promote the Rev’s notion of helping the poor and equality for all.

I don’t know what all you Obama fantics are smokin but please give me some because I am not much into the Kool-aid your drinking.

Jason X   April 29th, 2008 - 6:19 pm

Riiiiight. Now Barry is suddenly shocked about his pastor when his poll numbers drop.

smcacc   April 29th, 2008 - 6:24 pm

Of course he’s outraged. What do you think he’s going to do, stand up and applaud his Rev. like the Rev. did after the planes hit the twin towers. What a joke? Hey Obama and all the other black people who feel all whites are racists and will never change that opinion, since you think I am let me say one thing. “Get to the back of the bus where you belong N*****!” I am sick of this racist crutch. Nobody alive had anything to do with slavery so stop thinking we should bow down and beg forgiveness every five minutes. Your own actions are slowly reversing what progress has been made. I now believe that blacks don’t ever want a racist free society. It will take away the one big trump card they can use throughout everyday of their life. I for one give up.

tardsukconsgud   April 29th, 2008 - 6:31 pm

Hillary is no pansy and Bill is no-pantsy, you know they paid off the Reverend Wright to spew those things and he tipped off Barracks Hussein Obama so he could make fancy speeches and look good . Well it won’t work with the American people we’re to smart.

JimBo   April 29th, 2008 - 7:35 pm

This is too funny.

Now that Rev. Wright is talking about Senator Obama and not the USA he is outraged.

Go figure.

Cebo   April 29th, 2008 - 8:58 pm

PMD wrote: “It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the Rev. Wright media frenzy to die down. It has been going on for a very long time now.”

Well — as long as this idiot keeps GETTING UP IN FRONT OF the media and spewing his warped hate speech, I guess it has no end. I won’t even comment on his “theology” … just love watching a dope digging the whole deeper and deeper. Poor Barry — must be wishing this guy would just go back to that multi-million dollar mansion and RETIRE!

Terry   April 29th, 2008 - 9:23 pm

He quip about it being in his “DNA” doesn’t ring true. He went to some extremist AFRICAN church specifically because it is a “black thing.” This church blatantly says it is loyal to AFRICA, not the US. So, what can we think about Obama Hussein Barak? The name alone should have been a non-starter.

Terry   April 29th, 2008 - 9:26 pm

He mentions “Black church” in passing oh-so casually. But what if a WHITE candidate spoke of a WHITE church? First off, Whites aren’t allowed to have their own church just as we aren’t allowed to have anything else for ourselves. But Blacks can have their segregation when THEY want it.

Terry   April 29th, 2008 - 9:29 pm

The N3gr0es should listen to Obama and stop being so racist as to vote 97% for Obama simply because of race. When we see them stop voting based on race, maybe we’ll talk. Until then, Whites need to start voting only for other Whites just as Blacks do.

AM   April 29th, 2008 - 9:57 pm

Obama’s campaign has set both the black man and the race issue itself back YEARS of advancement. Whites (still very much a majority and essential in getting on your side) who were willing to let bygones be bygones are now thinking twice about putting our beloved country in the hands of a man who’s whole identity and those who he surrounded himself with revolving around a certain race (black, that is). He was obsessed with fitting in as a FULL blooded black man, erasing his white side, and it’s now coming to bite him in the arse. Pity. This all could have been so ground breakingly positive.

Texas   April 29th, 2008 - 10:36 pm

Just when I thought “it cannot possibly get better..” IT GETS BETTER! ROFLMAO! The Superdelegates are at this point pondering “Do we nominate Obama and lose 49 States or do we nominate Hillary and lose 45?” HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Hi_Skip   April 30th, 2008 - 12:38 am

Isn’t he just dreamy? *sigh*

saddenedbyitall   April 30th, 2008 - 3:52 pm

This whole spectacle truly is a sad situation, not only for Obama and the big mouth Wright, but for *all* of us.

Here is an earnest, even-keeled black man who has ignited the imagination and hope of millions of Americans of all colors and backgrounds, who has beat the odds and gained real momentum against Hillary and her ilk, who promulgates tolerance and cooperation among groups historically at odds with one another; and what happens? Some disgruntled, hateful, old nitwit with more mouth-muscle than grey matter has to act like a buffoon before the cameras and try to ruin it all!

WHO gains from this? Hillary? McCain? Certainly not the American people!

It is truly a sad situation, and one can only hope that Barak Obama will succeed at rising above this sad dip into the netherworlds of social and political possibilities…

Godspeed, Barak Obama! Here’s hoping that the American voters will SEE THROUGH all the nefarious goings-on trying to distract and derail our country’s healing, and voters will support the candidate who can help America get back on her feet, in all areas of life–economically, socially, morally!
