Anyone with half a brain can surmise, after looking at all three angles of the story, that Rather’s comments had nothing to do with gender.

But most people don’t actually bother to do that, and instead come to a conclusion after reading the headlines and nothing else.

He’s also right about Couric. Anyone who has watched her newscast need not a lot of imagination to understand why the ratings have hit the deck so swiftly. It’s unwatchable … literally.

I have a question Dan. Have you ever used the word “sexist” or “racist” or “extremist” to describe someone who did not deserve such special attention?
Now you are the target of the leftist cheap shot. Well, you can argue amoungst yourselves now. Because we just don’t care to watch anymore.

Dan had a long run. He was a good newsman. Katie has said she will not go on location. Don’t look for her to be reporting from Iraq. CBS needs to admit that signing her was a big expensive mistake.

even before Rather baby took over from Uncle Walter. Walter C. was the primary cause for the USA to exit Vietnam. The Tet offensive was a decisive loss for the Vietcong, but North vietnam never quit coming south in greater and greater numbers finally overwhelming the South,
which The USA, thanks to the Democrats refused to fund even though the Treaty of Paris was violated continuously. More than two million people lost their lives as a result of this pullout. which is a lesson in it self. Never, never trust a Democrats promises.

Well, at least Katie Couric does not weep on the air over news stories.

Dan has confirmed for all of us how out of touch he is with mainstream America in terms of our values and respect for each other. “Tarting up” is an unacceptable term in the context of his statement.

Thankfully, Dan’s time to go away has already come. He is a true dinosaur.

Maybe if Couric would resort to using forged documents sent to her via a Kinko’s fax she would gain more credibility in Rather’s eyes.

Thank you for speaking your mind, and the heck with the PC blarg. Les, you’re over the line calling “tarting” a sexist comment.

The irony is how the PC is coming back to bite guys like Rather and Moonves, it’s laughable really.

I’ve met Katie, and she should have never taken this on, Les talked her into it. So don’t hate these people, they’re showing us how human they really are.

I don’t like Rather or Couric so defending either one of them is distasteful for me, but Rather’s comments are certainly not due to gender bias. The bosses as CBS keep trotting out this “sexist” garbage anytime anyone tries to point out the obvious; Couric’s performence is terrible. The broadcast is, as BillyOK says above, UNWATCHABLE, and CBS refuses to accept the fact that they made a mistake. So to spin it in their favor, anyone who doesn’t watch her news is somehow a sexist. How laughable.

“dumbing down and tarting up”?
This is coming from the man who took over the #1 news chair of the “Big 3″ before the cable news explosion, and with no ultimate wars or trajedies occuring at the time, signed off “Dan Rather, COURAGE ” now dumb and dumber, and dumber still.

Dumb old me. I thoutht “tart” only applied to women. Dumb old me #2, isn’t calling a woman a tart, sexist?

Not so dumb #3, I don’t watch either of them. What Rather did to Bush is inexcusable in any company. And, as I remember it, his producer might have been a bit tartish.

I do not think name calling is approved by their Father. We wants his children to treat each other as they would be treated.
