I really feel enlightened to the struggle of the down trodden now. Until is see a man burn himself I don’t really consider other’s viewpoints. This is an effectove way of getting you message across. i really feel all liberals should consider this as an avenue of expression if they want to get my attention to their ideology. Once they have all engaged in this act of protest i think the rest of us will finally see things their way…..then we can get on with our lives.

Sorry…but I fail to see what benefit doing something like that does. In front of his family too? What an idiot. His first responsibility is to his family, first and foremost. What kind of idiot does this, pretty much kills his chances of living as a “normal” person, and now won’t be able to help as much in providing for his family? I cant believe nobody has any compassion for this man. Obviously he is not of sound mind. Making fun of this guy is like making fun of a cripple. For the ones that espouse conservative views ( I am not a liberal nor a christian), where are your christian values associated with conservatism of compassion and of non-judgement. This is someone to be pittied. This should arouse feelings of thankfulness for not finding yourself homeless and poor in another country and being swindled out of your money. It should make you greatful you have a computer and presumably a place to live and food. Perhaps you make fun of him because the idea of this scares you, perhaps like children you make fun of things you dont understand. You may find yourself in dire straights one day and the pressure may crack your psyche. None of you have walked in this mans shoes. The fact that you have no compassion shows a serious flaw in YOUR personality and you may want to look into what weakness you can work on to help yourself rather then condeming such an easy target as a mentally unsound person. Yes, as much as you fear it, circumstances or genetic predispotion could lead you to a similar place.

Everytime I see something like this the following scene from the Fisher King comes to mind;

Compassion? Yeah, I have little compassion for somebody who has given up on life, hope and whatever else would cause somebody to do this in front of his family. This guy, while undoubtedly not quite ‘right’ is incredibly selfish. This sort of act serves no one, and solves nothing. His family gets my compassion. He only gets my pity, and damned little of that.
