Shame on the authorities for taking the flag and torch away from the young lady. It is becoming increasingly evident the decision to grant the games to Communist China was a bone headed decision. It is time to shut them down.

Well, last week a guy in Mexico was just found guilty of theft for taking down a Mexican flag. I trust since we are a country of blind justice, whoever took her flag will receive the same sentencing.

What does say about the republican operatives who are behind the anti-american trade agreements with China. Look up Karl Rove’s part in all this before he left office and check out the huge amounts of money set aside for KRB.

Sue   April 10th, 2008 - 9:57 pm

She can practice free speech on her own time. She wasn’t contracted to disrupte the torch relay, so when she did it, she was relieved of her duty.

Sue   April 10th, 2008 - 10:00 pm

Ty Bettencourt, you’re a clueless conspiracy nut. ‘nuf said.

Dave if Geneva, you’re clueless too, since you’re not aware of the volume of CRAP this country produces, such as tainted peanut butter, spinach and hamburger, not to mention poor-quality cars.

sue   April 10th, 2008 - 10:04 pm

bajumba deharigan, you’re not very smart if you equate symbolic (not “slavish, you fool) protection of the Olympic flame with support of China.

It’s not a “new religious cult”, you idiot. It’s been going on for a couple thousand years at least. Too bad your minimal education prevents you from knowing this.

The Olympics are supposed to be non-political, but the extremists have co-opted the event to their own goals.

Oops, that should be “guy in New Mexico”, I think they allow Mexican flags in Mexico. lol

that guy   April 11th, 2008 - 1:34 am

How about S.F. Police charging someone with assault and or theft? If someone takes something from you by force….hmmm oh wait…I guess she is lucky she didnt have the American Flag since they hate America there (as well as Tibet!)

Dave if Geneva   April 11th, 2008 - 1:42 am

WHO THE HELL ARE THESE PEOPLE? What are the police so afraid of? What were the police told to do in cases like this? We need to stay out of China and boycott their products. The junk they sell us has lead based paint. Lead based paint on kids toys. They are trying to poison our kids. KEEP us out of China and stop buying their crap products. Let’s see if that slows down their military build up.

This chick needs to study up on Martin L King. You don’t start whining and sniveling when you are arrested. You let you dignity shame the wrong use of power. This shrieking harridan made me want to support China. She might also want to study the Lamas in Tibet, who were autocratic SOBs themselves.

worldwidewes   April 11th, 2008 - 2:22 am

Did she not know the rules about political statements?
Someone call a waaaambulance!

For what past Karma are the Tibetans suffering, and being mistreated today?

Karma being equal for all, it must have been really big, to warrant such a culturally sweeping punishment.

The Tibetans are not without sin by he way, as has already been mentioned.

ChuckL   April 11th, 2008 - 2:49 am

She was not whining nor sniveling. She was justifiably complaining that her Constitutionally protected right as an American citizen to publically protest was stopped.

And stopped not only by a San Francisco police officer, but by Chinese State Police officers, …on American soil! Let that sink in for a minute before blaming her for complaining.

It’s bad enough that those official Chinese thugs get away with things like this in their own country, but we should all be outraged that they do it here.

bajumba deharigan   April 11th, 2008 - 5:45 am

Thank god for Americans like this woman who has the guts and moral integrity to stand up to the Chinese autocratic thugs – and, sadly, their American cop and SF mayor enablers. THank you for standing up for the Tibetan people. What’s up with this slavish protection of the flame, anyway? Is this some kind of new religious cult? Why is our government supporting this nasty torch run? Everyone should boycott China and the olympics.

Rose   April 11th, 2008 - 6:35 am

The Torch symbolizes all of humanity, she had every right to carry a Tibetan flag. Other countries have declared all sorts of nationalities in the past, during the Torch Bearing, so what’s the big deal?

She could carry the Flag of the Amoeba Nations, so what?

JelloBiafra   April 11th, 2008 - 9:04 am

You people are all idiots. It was NOT an American Police officer that took the torch and flag from her, but a CHINESE NATIONAL POLICE OFFICER, ruling and enforcing LAW in OUR LAND.

You sheeple are pathetic, and once you wake up, it’ll be too late.
