Unlike Khrushchev’s Tsar Bomba (the largest nuclear weapon ever detonated), I don’t think this bomb was meant to scare anybody. The message is not “be afraid of us”, but rather “big bombs for sale!”.

BTW – US B2 stealth flies at 475MPH, The B1 Lancer (radar visible) goes 600MPH while the giant Tu-160 goes 1380 MPH! I suppose armed with these conventional (specifically non-treaty limited) weapons. Many odd countries could have be an almost nuclear threat to others they don’t like.

Iran, for example, could “erase” Iraq’s cities, at far far less cost than trying to develop nuclear and all the problems that brings. The weapons have already been used there by US so no big outcry. No contamination so you can just move right in…

There could be a very big market in super destructive conventional weapons… Hmmm….

The clip shows the Tu-160 but it is just canned film footage. If a “common” cargo plane could “drop” this weapon that would be a “problem”…

The USA version (MOAB) is dropped from the C-130 but the Russian Blackjack should be able to hold this bomb in it’s normal bomb bay space. The C-130 is able to open from the back to throw out big armor in flight from a very secure airspace.

Any normal cargo plane cannot “open” to drop anything and cannot be easily modified without the airframe collapsing.

But if the cost of a Tu-160 could be avoided and a “standard” aircraft could be used, that would be a big advantage…

All fake. Anyone else notice they show a backfire bomber “delivery vehicle”, then delivery of the bomb via rear cargo door pallet parachute extraction? Backfire has no such capability. Also, this tub of junk lacks the aerodynamic stability for any kind of precision guidance (compare to MOAB). Ironically, the folding fins on the US MOAB that work so well were “borrowed” from the Russians…
