"This White House promised or assured the American people that at some point when this was behind us they would talk publicly about it. And they have refused to."

“hmmm say things that corroborate what I said in my book and make millions, or tell the truth…”

Sean   June 20th, 2008 - 11:43 am

Why was he allowed to make commentary during testimony?

m-antony   June 20th, 2008 - 12:13 pm

I wonder if McClellan meets his own demise in the next few years? Not a very smart move. Money can not repair the treason.

GWT   June 20th, 2008 - 12:23 pm

Good thing he didn’t make all this fuss against the Clinton clan

PaleRyder   June 20th, 2008 - 12:23 pm

Lets see, when someone comes out and writes a book about a dem ,they are chastised and their irs records, medical records and criminal backgrounds are run non-stop 24 hrs. a day on cable news. When a person comes out blasting a repub. administration he is a hero and truth teller and congress can get him up on capital hill within weeks of the book release to tell his story.Wonder why the dems in congress couldn’t move so fast with the gas crisis, mortgage crisis or the med. insurance issue.Could it be for pure political reasons? What really is amazing is the fact that they think the American public is to stupid to see through all of this. For 2 years in control of congress we now know Clemens took steriods and McClellan is a national hero, what a great accomplishment for this gov. run by the Nancy and Harry hate-America first crowd.Lets see, he was lying when he was on the job but now is telling the truth when it stands to make him filthy rich, and its the oil companies who are fleecing us…give me a break. Will the last red blooded American to finally dump this brain dead party, please bring the flag.

Brian   June 20th, 2008 - 12:28 pm

None of the people who have left the administration are telling the truth. Only the people who are still in the administration are telling the truth.

The people who have left, like this dog Scotty, have a reason to lie. The people who are still there, like President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, have no reason to lie. Even if they did have a reason to lie, which they do not, they would never lie to We the American People.

Oh, God, I love them so much. But it’s a man love, you understand, not a gay thing.

JP   June 20th, 2008 - 1:42 pm

Scott McClellan!!!
What a jerk! You should be tried for treason. Loose lips sink ships, and those who are now pledging their allegiance/ honor, are definitely nothing a-kin to our Founding Fathers. Those who signed the Declaration of Independence would turn over in their graves at the actions of many who are calling themselves patriots, when they are traitors in disguise.

Scottie Boy, if you were so appalled with your job, why did you remain in the service of the President? Why, may I ask, did you not do the somewhat honorable thing and resign??? Could it be because you Loved the lime light? Why did you write a book full of lies? Could it be because the Dems, and Lefty Press, dangled a few dollars in front of your greedy nose?

Why did you not read the Declaration of Independence and take heed to what they signed: “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”

Scottie Boy, you are not worthy to wash the feet of those who have gone before.

Former Republican   June 20th, 2008 - 1:46 pm

Brian, you’re comments were so silly, I can only assume that you were being facetious.
As one poster put it, “Why is it when you see a Democrat commit a crime, you’re a ‘Witness’, but if you see a Republican commit a crime, you’re a ‘Conspiracy Theorist’?”

I can only assume you’re joking about Bush and Cheney not lying to We the People.

PMD   June 20th, 2008 - 2:08 pm

I don’t think people have done enough to question McClellan’s motives and character. We need to drag his character through the mud so that nobody hears anything but “blah blah blah I’m just in it for the money”.

Right now, too many people are listening to what he writes and what he says. We need to prevent that as best we can and make his words irrelevant.

Leopold Stotch   June 20th, 2008 - 2:12 pm

And I’ll add to what Former Republican said:
Why is it when Conservo writers pen about Liberals/Democrats/MSM/Gays etc. they are ‘exposing the truth’, but when concerned people write about global warming/insider knowledge of the Bush administration etc. they are painted as people trying to ‘reap millions’. (and BTW feel free to ask anyone whose worked in publishing or science about the ‘millions’ they are supposedly rolling in.)

kevin   June 20th, 2008 - 2:23 pm

He gave no evidence, he just makes a speech to plug his book.

He says so himself, that he “doesn’t know”.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&sid=a5.ch3ngOreY&refer=us

June 20 (Bloomberg) — Former presidential spokesman Scott McClellan told lawmakers he doesn’t know whether Vice President Dick Cheney or other government officials committed a crime in connection with the leak of a CIA operative’s identity.

McClellan, whose new memoir said top White House officials and “possibly” Cheney misled him about the disclosure of covert agent Valerie Plame’s name, said today he didn’t think President George W. Bush knew about the leak. Even so, McClellan said Bush and Cheney insisted he publicly exonerate top Cheney aide Lewis “Scooter” Libby, who later was convicted of perjury and obstructing justice.

“I don’t know whether a crime was committed by any administration officials” other than Libby, McClellan told the House Judiciary Committee in Washington.

DRUMZ   June 20th, 2008 - 3:21 pm

I can’t stand disloyalty. And, while what McClellan has done is certainly disloyal, it’s not nearly as disloyal as Bush has been to the Constitution during his reign of foreign wars and domestic spying. Both men appear to be disloyal douchebags, but Bush is more dangerous. Bring back the Constitution.

Sonya B.   June 20th, 2008 - 3:39 pm

Scott, we didn’t need to be reminded that some people will do anything for a buck.

lastonestanding   June 20th, 2008 - 5:14 pm

I can only think of three or four in congress that truly still represent the people and country’s interest. The rest are the problem not the cure. What our these life long public servants doing to: (1) maintain the value of the dollar (2) controll illegal immigration into the country (3) improve the failing infrastructure across the country (4) the cost of living due to food, oil and lost of living wages for the middle class. The answer is nothing, their focus is on making themselves and their famiilies rich off the country dole. Vote them all out — all the time until the term life long public servant is an unknown term. One way to before a multi-millionaire is get elected to congress. Tell me how this should be the norm… these are not good people. These are dangereous people for the country. All of them, vote them out of office and save the country more the power back to the states.

redsports05   June 20th, 2008 - 5:16 pm

DRUMZ…were u as upset with Clinton and his domestic “spying”, or is it just with Bushes so-called lie?

Morons   June 20th, 2008 - 5:39 pm

Sean, everyone who testifies before congress is allowed to make an opening statement. Welcome to current events.

PaleRyder, you forgot Terri Schiavo.

Sonya, I assume you mean Bush and his NeoCon embezzlers?

american   June 20th, 2008 - 5:39 pm

Paleryder, You said it so well! I, totally agree you. This little man, scotty, is a little disloyal weasel.

Shane   June 20th, 2008 - 5:45 pm

So, Dick Armitage comes out in public and says he is the leak concerning Valarie Plame. Please, don’t take my word for it, look it up. Now Scotty says that maybe his boss knew and maybe Cheney knew. How come no body is going after the guy who owned up, admitted and said publicly that he did it? Mostly because it is a partisan hack job.

As far as the people here saying Bush and Cheney have lied to us, about what exactly? Don’t just say the war, I want the quotes. Not what your talking points are from the DNC but what they actually said. An interputation of intelligence data, which was also the same from several countries that are our allies all pointed to the same conclusion. But don’t let that stop you. What did Bush actually lie about. If it is so obvious then you could point to a speach or a letter he posted. Currently we can say Joe Wilson lied. We can point to his testimony in the Senate Select Committe on Intelligence where he owned up to not seeing documents that he claimed were fake, and where it was shown that his wife got him the trip to Niger.

Mac-101   June 20th, 2008 - 6:49 pm

Shane, the worst thing about this Plame BS is she was not covert. Her name was in the unclassified Directory of CIA officials available to the public. The most disgusting thing was Dick Armatige who made (leaked) the story of how partisan the Wilson Inquiry was. The prosecuter knew from the start that Armitage was the (leaker) and kept the inquiry going for what, a year, making it political. All the while Armatige notified Sec of State Colin Powell and they sat on it during the entire investigation, not coming foward, leaving Pres Bush in the dark. I’m not a Pres Bush supporter, BUT this is JUST wrong!

To TOP this, It was on TV that Dick Aramtige is one of FOUR TOP Sen Mccain advisors. What a sorry snake, and what a sorry individual that would use such an individual who harmed his boss, the President so much!

In the world of the Left, if you disagree with them you are either deranged or a criminal. You are not allowed to simply have another view; you must be demonized. And anyone who can reinforce your view will get paraded in front of a camera.

Useful idiots and useful victims are the Mother’s Milk of the Left.

Way to go Mr Mc Clellon let the truth be heard, and justice done. Thank you for fleeing from the dark side of the force and entering the light of truth and tolerance.

Interesting way to push his book. The man has no soul. And, look at Conyers smile for the camera. Anyone who doesn’t read into this bufoone’s motives is naive.

dswilli   June 20th, 2008 - 9:25 pm

Look everyone, Judas is pimping his book again.

Rover   June 20th, 2008 - 9:46 pm

I read McClellan’s book and really enjoyed it. He managed to escape from the Bush nightmare and actually came out ahead. Being the first ray of truth as to how Bush f***** everything up, McClellan is one hot ticket right now. But soon others will be writing more books and the whole puzzle will come together.

I won’t ruin it for you by telling what he said, but let’s just say that’s what we were afraid happened…

mike   June 21st, 2008 - 12:15 am

I can not believe the arrogance with the supporters of the pack of criminals that are running this country.

Anyone to leave and talk all of a sudden are NO GOOD LIARS! JEEESH!.the only reason for people to support these crooks are;
1- You have money to be made by their actions

2- you are devoutly religious and your preacher tells you to continue supporting.. OR 3– Good ol Grandpa was a republican and you dont want to piss him off……

Oscar   June 21st, 2008 - 5:29 am

Richard Armitage has already admitted that he was the leaker not “Scooter” Libby. Yet Libby pays for it on matters unrelated directly to the so-called “outing” of Valerie Plame, while Armitage is walking around scot-free, (pun intended). The difference of course, is that Armitage was critical of the administration to begin with so he gets an “all-clear” pass from the Libs. I’m all for “whistle blowers” of any stripe, so why not blow the whistle when it can still do some good and not wait until you’re fired, appear to be disgruntled and want make money with a “tell-all” book. McClellan has no credibility to come out with a George Soros’s funded book, long after the fact.

Mac-101   June 21st, 2008 - 8:31 am

Oscar, you hit the nail on the head. Dr Evil, Head Kapo of the Univierse, George Soros through his NGOs, has funded Sen McCain since 2000, the Clintons since the Arkansas days and now his major bucks, Move ON . Org are behind Sen Obama for the last couple years. It’s win, win, win, for him and the globalist nomater who wins.

Sen McCain is working as hard as he can to lose, and is doing a good job of it. The NAFTA speach in Canada is a gem, then we can’t forget about his half hearted reversal about drilling off shore. I beleive he still is against drilling ANWAR. Its walk or run to the New World Order!
