Stars and Stripes Freefall: Clinton Exit Hindered by Four Flag Collapse

"I think the bases are not weighted enough," Clinton said, after she and her staff attempted to right the flags that came crashing down around her during a news conference on Monday.

J. Goodson   November 12th, 2007 - 12:04 pm

Great omen of things to come if she’s the prez.

Rick Splooge   November 12th, 2007 - 12:11 pm

Wish it had been a large brick wall..

ThatCatGirl   November 12th, 2007 - 12:12 pm

Why is this news worthy?

imatt   November 12th, 2007 - 12:12 pm

Quite right, Goodson.

A show of things to come indeed.

JR   November 12th, 2007 - 12:12 pm

Do we even have to say it? Omen? Sign? I only hope this gets played on the MSM tonight, Veteran’s Day holiday.

Major   November 12th, 2007 - 12:15 pm

The flags almost hit her? You have to be kidding me. They were falling away from her for good reason.

Rog   November 12th, 2007 - 12:16 pm

She can fool all of the fools some of the time, and some of the fools some of the time…but she can’t fool Old Glory on Veteran’s Day!

ww   November 12th, 2007 - 12:19 pm

Now the flags are ganging up on her!!!!!!!!

Ryan   November 12th, 2007 - 12:21 pm

A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words! How Symbolic! Dreadful Days ahead if she is Elected!

Hal   November 12th, 2007 - 12:24 pm

THIS is news?!?!?!?!?!?!?

way to go journalists…….

Todd   November 12th, 2007 - 12:25 pm

I predict that if she doesn’t win, she will commit suicide.

You heard it ehre first!

Awkins   November 12th, 2007 - 12:26 pm

The falling flags weren’t even close to hitting her. Hillary – always the victim – so you should feel sorry for her. Right!

Nam   November 12th, 2007 - 12:27 pm

The news caster is a dumbass, “…almost hit her”?? Give me a break – the flags fell AWAY from her. Once again the media trying to make a story out of nothing. My 6th grader could do your job (better than you can) news boy.

Bill Clinton   November 12th, 2007 - 12:28 pm

It’s the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy in Action!

Bill   November 12th, 2007 - 12:35 pm

I think the flags were trying to flee in fear as she approached.

Doug   November 12th, 2007 - 12:37 pm

They didn’t fall, they were trying to get away from her.

mike   November 12th, 2007 - 12:37 pm

Old Glory “Swift Boated” her

j mal   November 12th, 2007 - 12:38 pm

OMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dan Reily   November 12th, 2007 - 12:39 pm

What else can Happen? Lately her whole Campaign seems to be falling apart. Or maybe it’s just another one of her tricks to get more sympathy Votes. I think it makes one believe in the Holy Sprits! Can’t wait to see what she does next.

VRWConspiritor   November 12th, 2007 - 12:39 pm

Definitely an Omen. The flags were clearly trying to get away from her. Who can blame them?

Russ   November 12th, 2007 - 12:40 pm

You notice how she makes half an attempt to get the closest one to her while one lies on the ground at her feet? What an omen of things to come.

DandyT   November 12th, 2007 - 12:44 pm

Boy if that isn’t symbolic irony!

Mr. Pelican Pants   November 12th, 2007 - 12:48 pm

Like animals before a natural disaster, I think the flags knew something.

J. Alejandro   November 12th, 2007 - 12:49 pm

Gee, everyone is already onto it. Indeed, the Greeks would have called this an omen. Even Old Glory is trying to warn us about this closet Leninist!

Hiding in the hills   November 12th, 2007 - 12:49 pm

This is not news. It is an omen. It’s very similar to when Rudy was talking in the debate and the lightning interrupted his speech. Both of those folks will be bad for America.

Jim   November 12th, 2007 - 12:50 pm

And as Hillary spoke the flags came down
Left and right and all around.
It was dishonesty
Disturbed their gravity.
And as she spoke the flags came down.

Jeanne   November 12th, 2007 - 12:51 pm

Now that she’s touched one it will have to be BURNED of course.

Mark   November 12th, 2007 - 12:56 pm

I’d say that was symbolic of what lies in store for this nation if she gets in.

walt   November 12th, 2007 - 1:00 pm

B-A-D O-M-E-N for Mrs. Clinton!

K. West   November 12th, 2007 - 1:03 pm

nachomama   November 12th, 2007 - 1:03 pm

It was Bush’s fault.

Arroyo   November 12th, 2007 - 1:04 pm

Talk about irony! I attended President Nixon’s funeral and during President Clinton’s speech a floral arrangement designed to look like the American flag fell flat on its face.

joe   November 12th, 2007 - 1:09 pm

IS THAT A SIGN OR WHAT????

del   November 12th, 2007 - 1:11 pm

Dress Chevy Chase as Ms. Clinton and make a skit.

jojo dancer   November 12th, 2007 - 1:11 pm

the flag that touched the ground will have to be burned. at least it won’t be around for the Hellections!! haven’t they even heard of tripod stands. idiots

nachomama   November 12th, 2007 - 1:11 pm

I wished she would have pulled a groin muscle picking it back up.

Tom Waters   November 12th, 2007 - 1:20 pm

Ah yes, the great right wing conspiracy is at it again.

Riderhide   November 12th, 2007 - 1:24 pm

Someone that is running for president should have slid under those flags to keep them from touching the ground. Hilary is a stoner. It takes her way to long to react to anything. That’s all we need is a mentally slow woman to run our country.Maybe it’s that time of the month for her?!

Sean   November 12th, 2007 - 1:25 pm

BRILLIANT! Falling Flags is DEFINITELY something we can expect to see ALOT of if Hillary…erm…Billary becomes our next President!

Irony can be pretty ironic at times!

David   November 12th, 2007 - 1:26 pm

When she fails to win the Pres. election, I wonder if she too will put on 65lbs, grow a shaggy beard, teach a class and warn us all that the sky is falling. Well, maybe just the fat and hairy part.

Bill   November 12th, 2007 - 1:27 pm

I would have tried to catch the flags. Not just watch them fall.

Omen of things to come?? Hillary watch those flags fall reminded of Nero. What is next?

Hitlery   November 12th, 2007 - 1:28 pm

Old Glory falling away from Hitlery Clinton is quite telling. If she puts her hand on a Bible, I am sure it will catch on fire.

donchaknow   November 12th, 2007 - 1:31 pm

Don’t ya know the same folks that were responsible for blowing up the WTC buildings are responsible for knocking those flags down? After all, common sense tells us that fire can’t melt steel and gravity won’t knock a flag down. Jeeesh!

Darryl   November 12th, 2007 - 1:32 pm

Someone else observed it was Bush, Cheney, and Rove’s fault. Time for another Democrat congressional investigation!

Joe   November 12th, 2007 - 1:36 pm

She is quoted as saying “I think the bases are not weighted enough”. That is so true. To analogize, when you don’t have a firm base of convictions, everything comes crashing down.

For example, when you don’t have a firm stance on whether to give driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, I don’t care if you are for or against it, just tell us where you stand. Give us your firm base!!

JAC   November 12th, 2007 - 1:37 pm

The flags did not almost hit her, in fact she caught one and stopped it from hitting the ground. All are right, a sign of things to come. It is time to pick the flag off the ground!

Bill Clinton   November 12th, 2007 - 1:44 pm

I heard that one of the Clinton staffers approached the flags ealier and asked if they would spontaneously fall just as Clinton was exiting.

shotbus   November 12th, 2007 - 1:45 pm

Looks like the downfall of America if Clinton is elected!

Robert   November 12th, 2007 - 1:50 pm

A predictive metaphor…. How ironic that this only happened to Hilary. Can you say ’self destruct…’

Robert   November 12th, 2007 - 1:53 pm

JAC is right. It is time to pick the flag up from off the ground. The disrespect and animosity towards our nation and our traditions shown by Hilary, Pelosi, Dean, Reid and others of their ilk is maddening. Add our ‘Republican’ president’s dismantling of our borders, sovereignty and security, and yes, lets pick up those damn flags. Lets get true conservatism back into our government. Lets have a congress who understands their job description, a president who understands his role to protect and preserve our union, and judges who understand they are not lawmakers.

Mike   November 12th, 2007 - 2:10 pm

This is not the first time things have fallen around her. Remember when Bill was running for president the first and the Jennifer Flowers scandel became public? Hillary and Bill went on 60 Minutes to proclaim their commitment to each other and during the interview an overhead light fell down crashing just behind the coach they were sitting on. A sign of things to come.

Doug   November 12th, 2007 - 2:12 pm

To those who above say ….this is not news. How completely intellectually dishonest you are. This was a Press conference with the leading Presidential Candidate, on freeking Veterans Day, surrounded by falling flags. Had this not been your chosen girl you would have been all over this, calling it a omen. And that is certainly what it was. You KNOW she had someones head over this.

Doug   November 12th, 2007 - 2:16 pm

Look at the video and see how tiny the foundations / bases are on which this Clinton Camps “people” expected these flags to hold up…now that is a metaphor.

Whitetaxpayer   November 12th, 2007 - 2:16 pm

Remember when a flag fell onto the ground in ….France?
Just in time for Billy Jeff to pick it up and place it back upon the soldier’s grave from which it had ………..fallen!
Something about those Clintoons; Flags fall around them!

An Omen?   November 12th, 2007 - 2:16 pm

Hillary and falling flags; Rudy and a lighting strike — OMENS? What was the portent when President Bush tried to escape from reporters out of a locked door? The answer: NOTHING. These are non-newsworthy stories that trivialize the critical issues that you all claim to care about. And the reason that the media continue to report on this nonsense is because it gets the most attention — it drives readership and comment. Just compare the number of comments on stories like this to substantive reporting. Instead of reading tea leaves into stage mishaps and phenomena of nature, perhaps start asking tough questions of our candidates and hold the media accountable.

Tom   November 12th, 2007 - 2:18 pm

I hope that the number of anti-Clinton comments here portends the election results. It would truly be the end of our country as we know it if she slithers her way into office.

Doug   November 12th, 2007 - 2:29 pm

OK Mr. “An Omen?

Here is a question….do we allow illegals to have drivers licenses? If perhaps your candidate would make some actual new they it would get reported on. She doesn’t, so we are left to read the tea leaves, and falling flag omens.

Were is Ronald Regan, heck ….even JKF. Two great conservatives.

Rick Splooge   November 12th, 2007 - 2:44 pm

She even makes Che proud…

Kraig Broecker   November 12th, 2007 - 3:16 pm

You all made my day. Great cleaver funny comments. I won’t add any I’ll just re-read your’s. We need millions more like you. Thanks

space alien   November 12th, 2007 - 4:47 pm

They should have used her ankles as a model for the bases.

uma   November 12th, 2007 - 5:54 pm

we should vote for the flags for prez.
Billery vs. Flags in a caged fight on ppv would be great!

poi   November 12th, 2007 - 5:56 pm

her big caboose could anchor a battleship!

Rhino21   November 12th, 2007 - 8:14 pm

An omen? I’ll bet those flags were put there by caucasian heterosexual meat eating gun owning Christians from the South who homeschool their kids and listen to talk radio!

Or is it the souls of those killed that this neo-Marxist have stabbed in the back as they fought for God and country?

Pabby   November 12th, 2007 - 10:14 pm

I think the flags were clearly trying to tell us something. Hillary Clinton is UNFIT FOR COMMAND, no doubt about it.

NI Hick   November 12th, 2007 - 11:00 pm
