Tiger’s Wife Inspires Pawlenty : Voters Should ‘Smash the Window’ of Big Government

"We should take a page out of her playbook and take a 9-iron..."

kmichaels   February 19th, 2010 - 12:14 pm

Well, it is true
that the liberals in government
have been trying
to screw everyone.

So I see the similarity.

RUFUS LEVIN   February 19th, 2010 - 12:28 pm

Excuse me….but he probably needs to hire a speechwriter with a brain.
Dumb!

FastFacts   February 19th, 2010 - 12:34 pm

Wow, interesting that he would make this connection soon after the conference. I wonder when this was released?

True we need to stop Big Business but let us not insight voilence like the leftist protesters. The Tea Parties are always calm and peaceful while those of the left are usually full of vandalism and panic, police, and tear gas.

Let us be the example, but at the same time tear down the walls of big government and bust out the windows of DC politics.

Democrats are the Tiger Woods of politics — they enjoy three-ways with the truth and like to watch people get screwed in new and unusual ways.

Of course, Tiger Woods is also the John Edwards of golf. Keep an eye on both, it’s all good.

.

racerx   February 19th, 2010 - 12:45 pm

Wow, one day after the plane in Austin went into the IRS building Pawlenty says this?!
When the country is on the edge already, I would have thought he would have
chosen his words more carefully. Oh, who is he kidding? He knew exactly
what he was doing.

kmichaels   February 19th, 2010 - 1:17 pm

Again, another shout out to the extremist muslim bigot racerx
F_CK YOU.

So, then, figuratively smashing the glass of the government windows
is supposed to be some secret code for breaking actual government glass?

God, you really are a complete and utter DUMBASS.

kmichaels   February 19th, 2010 - 1:30 pm

BTW, racerx, when your muslim extremist brother got killed like a worthless rat in Dubai recently, strangled slowly I think,
I just had to laugh and laugh and laugh. How about you?

True   February 19th, 2010 - 1:49 pm

Pawlenty, Pawlease…. You’re a joke.

RtofAtillia   February 19th, 2010 - 2:07 pm

Not a bad comparison. Works for me.

Ted White   February 19th, 2010 - 2:11 pm

racerx: Oh paleeze! Wow! Quite the imagination you have there. Did you come up with that while you were biting your pillow??? Or was it a dream you got that from? I’ve heard sometimes anti-psychotic drugs can induce quite incredible dreams. Is that where you come up with your posts?
Nice try. Lets see what you can come up with next….

B   February 19th, 2010 - 2:19 pm

I dont get what all the fuss is about. not a big deal. harmless really.

28 Handicap   February 19th, 2010 - 2:36 pm

racerx
Have a lie down.

HandyMan   February 19th, 2010 - 2:41 pm

The Republicans had their chance under Bush to cut government spending. They cut nothing and bankrupted the country. How can anyone believe them? Now it is the Democrats turn to do nothing as well. How can anyone think either wing of the Corruption Party will follow though on their promises?

libertarian416   February 19th, 2010 - 2:51 pm

Who says we don’t need a violent revolution – I’ll go get my clubs…

MrRich   February 19th, 2010 - 3:02 pm

Dumb is right. Don’t the Republicans have anybody who can articulate a message that will resonate with the American people? Palin is too folksy, Pawlenty is trying too hard to be clever, Huckabee and Romney have their religious backgrounds holding them back. Where’s the next Ronald Reagan?

Matt   February 19th, 2010 - 3:11 pm

I never golfed but I’m sure I can find another blunt, swingable object. Wheres the meeting place?

Mike   February 19th, 2010 - 3:16 pm

WOW! how stupid of a story! He’s sounds like he’s tryin’ to the free ride of the Tea Party. It’s a bad analogy, he sounds like Obama, WAIT more like BIDEN! I’m sick of these “Political” cute jokes!

Soapboxgod   February 19th, 2010 - 3:22 pm

Pawlenty is an opportunist pure and simple. I know because he’s the governor of my state.
He’s also the same “anti-big government” governor that supported and signed an anti-private
property smoking ban, subsidized light rail massively, supported and signed a primary
seat belt law, supported and signed a publicly funded Twins baseball stadium WITHOUT
a voter referendum….I could go right on down the list.

This guy is a joke if he thinks he’s got any credibility on Liberty and Individual Freedom
and anything even remotely identified with the principles and foundations of our
Republic.

Jimmy   February 19th, 2010 - 3:24 pm

Dont fall for this guy Conservatives….He’s a RINO!

soapboxgod   February 19th, 2010 - 3:29 pm

Smash big government? Pawlenty Pawlenty…what a short memory you have.
It was you who told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that “the era of small government is over.”

What’s more, you supported and signed an anti-private property smoking ban on
privately owned businesses; supported and signed a primary seat belt law.

You supported and signed a publicly funded Twins Stadium WITHOUT a referendum.

Add to that your support of ethanol subsidies, light rail subsidies, etc. etc. etc.

You sir are an opportunist plain and simple.

Gahan   February 19th, 2010 - 4:19 pm

Let’s see now, someone has the courage to say that the government and the policies it created that are presently destroying this nation need to be drastically changed…

Huh…so where is the problem exactly. Oh, that’s right, only rap stars and hollywood liberals get to use colorful speech…that’s right.

RobbieK   February 19th, 2010 - 4:26 pm

HandyMan February 19th, 2010 – 2:41 pm

The Republicans had their chance under Bush to cut government spending. They cut nothing and bankrupted the country. How can anyone believe them? Now it is the Democrats turn to do nothing as well. How can anyone think either wing of the Corruption Party will follow though on their promises? — C’mon, Bush didn’t bankrupt the country. How much money do you think you’d have to spend to keep the country safe after the disaster of Bubba Clinton on terrorism? The difference between President Bush & the disaster Obama is that Obama is a Marxist who hasn’t released any of his personnel records yet and wouldn’t qualify to be an FBI agent,

Harvey T.   February 19th, 2010 - 4:36 pm

Jimmy: Back up your claim…

MrRich   February 19th, 2010 - 4:36 pm

For example, our liberal message is loud and clear, SPREAD THE WEALTH.

We do this by paying nearly a trillion dollars to buy 45 thousand dollar jobs for the cost of 463 thousand dollars.

We even have a manifesto that describer our message clearly. By our great liberal author Karl Marx.

RobbieK   February 19th, 2010 - 4:46 pm

I’m a true Blue Reagan Republican and when Tim Pawlenty had the full power to step in and stop the stealing of the Minnesota Senate election, he did NOTHING, NOTHING, AND MORE NOTHING!!! Get off our stage Pawlenty!

NOQTR4TR8RS   February 19th, 2010 - 5:42 pm

“Democrats are the Tiger Woods of politics — they … like to watch people get screwed in new and unusual ways.”

ROFL! :-D

Rob   February 19th, 2010 - 5:45 pm

Another Minnesota politician who will once again not be President.

Too bad the guy isn’t in Minnesota (you know where his job is located and the folks who are paying his currently salary) helping to solve the mess he has presided over in its making – instead of running around the country proclaiming his sudden conversion to the Far Right.

NOQTR4TR8RS   February 19th, 2010 - 5:47 pm

@soapboxgod,

Excellent, EXCELLENT post. I knew nothing of Pawlenty. These are the things I like to hear about politicians who profess to be conservative, or Constitutionalists. Where do they stand on issues? Do they defend the Constitution when the chips are down, or will they become tumbleweeds when the political winds pick up?

Thanks for a very informative post.

Biff Steele   February 19th, 2010 - 11:15 pm

Pawlenty is another MC’CAIN…..

What a speechless tool

Dewey   February 19th, 2010 - 11:19 pm

When are these Republican politicians going to learn that making what they think are clever analogies between other public figures’ misfortunes and the Democrat party are NOT what wins elections. They may play well in an auduence like CPAC, but they do not play well where it really counts…the ballot box. We’d prefer you explain exaclty how you would do things differently if you were in charge. All you’re giving us are sophomoric jokes or snide remarks about the other party. I thought just Democrats behaved this way. Guess I was mistaken. Pawlenty just lost my support should he decide to run in 2012. His performance wasn’t what you’d expect from a serious leader. My hard earned money and support will be spent on real leaders, not cheerleaders. We already have the latter sitting in the oval office.

rachel   February 19th, 2010 - 11:23 pm

I thought Pawlenty’s allusion was very apropos, and timely. I think we would all like to take a 9-iron to Capitol Hill…

Sam   February 19th, 2010 - 11:29 pm

Leave the Woods family alone. They have problems, yes Tiger makes a ton of money being in the public light and he’s made some horrendous errors but respect him enough to leave him alone! Pawlenty you are pathetic; as “junkmaninohio” says ‘just another political phony, like McCain’. Go find your rock to crawl back under.

bmmg39   February 20th, 2010 - 12:45 am

Let’s not make light of domestic abuse, Tim.

mark   February 20th, 2010 - 2:30 am

Milquetoast Pawlenty trying to sound all tough and macho, is like white suburban kids trying to pull off Gangsta at the food court.

It’s just sad and PATHETIC.

Middle Man   February 20th, 2010 - 6:01 am

In 2002 Pawlenty signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge stating that he would balance the state budget without raising taxes. In his first term, the state faced a $4.23 billion deficit courtesy of Jesse Ventura. He balanced the budget without raising taxes.

He did it again in the second term when MN faced another deficit because of the downturn in the national economy. Thus, the Minnesota Taxpayer’s League named him one of their 2009 Heroes of the Taxpayer.

During this tenure, he signed the “Right to Know” law, which requires full information about the unborn to be given to women seeking abortion.

He vetoed state funding for embryonic stem-cell research.

He signed legislation protecting the privacy of homeschoolers from the prying eyes of local school districts.

He was ready to sign a bill allowing Minnesotans to vote on an amendment to the State Constitution defending traditional marriage. However, the liberals blocked it from getting out of committee. He has been highly featured in several articles by the Heritage Foundation.

He has been a consistent supporter of the War on Terror and those serving in the Minnesota National Guard.

In the last legislative session he ran circles around the democrats to balance the budget and hold down spending. No, he is not perfect but he is certainly no RINO and he did well as a governor considering that Minnesota is not a friend of conservatives generally.

St. Tim he is not. I do disagree with him on a few things. However, he generally has a high rating from conservative groups and thus, I repeat, does not deserve the pejorative title RINO.

David Plouffe   February 20th, 2010 - 6:25 am

Middle Man: Thank you…. Don’t you just love the folks not from Minnesota who know NOTHING about Pawlenty, who are jumping on the bandwagon bashing him? Most likely liberal trolls.

soapboxgod   February 20th, 2010 - 8:23 am

Hero of the taxpayer? When you consider that the horrendous “green energy” bill which mandates renewable forms of energy, the infrastructure for which needing to be procured to comply with the mandate, the costs of which are passed on to consumers like myself, saving us tax increases in one regard is moot. What’s more, he can tout that he didn’t raise taxes and while this is technically true with regards to income taxes, he also supported and signed the Twins stadium bill which increased sales taxes on Hennepin county residents. Further, he is a huge proponent of light rail and wants to expand on it to “spur business” despite the fact that the 12 mile Hiawatha light rail line cost about 3/4 of a BILLION dollars to build, goes no faster that about 50 miles an hour, and runs an annual operating cost shortfall of $10 MILLION (and is expected to do so in perpetuity).

If, as a politician, you’re “holding the line” or not raising taxes in one place but sticking it to the taxpayers somewhere else, then when you expect to take to the National stage, expect that others are going to hear about it.

For more, see my other posts about Pawlenty’s anti-liberty, anti-freedom, positions herein.

susto   February 20th, 2010 - 11:08 am

Pawlenty’s words to liberal is like showing a cat to the Mummy.
Truth hurts don’t it?
Go get em team GOP!

Obviously it is a veil attempt to inspire teabaggers to violence against minorities.

Tiger’s Noric wife swinging a golf club in an abusive manner is violent. Tiger is a person of color. It is an example of violence against a minority. Pawlenty is encouraging it because Obama is black. It is an attempt to inspire violence

Dahlface   February 20th, 2010 - 3:45 pm

In 2012, the Repubs can win if they have any reasonable person with a pulse as their front-man. Instead, they back Palin and this loser. C’mon guys I really don’t want to vote for Obama again!

PhilZ   February 20th, 2010 - 8:08 pm

Pawlenty = another Republican going too far in his zeal to unseat
the other party. Getting smug is a turn-off and proposing violence towards
the government is way out there. I wonder how the citizens of Minnesota feel
about their governor saying that we should start breaking government windows.
Rednecks are making noise and they assume this is somehow playing well with
moderate mainstream America, the voters. Fact is, most fair-minded Americans
don’t have a lot of tolerance for people who want to tear down their government.
They want their social security, medicare, veterans administration, post office.
They voted in Obama, who is a moderate, to do a job for 4 years and he will
still be there when all the current grand-standing dies down.

That makes Pawlenty merely a waste of time.

jim   February 21st, 2010 - 6:36 am

Pawlenty cant win in 2012…and this was a dumb foray into popular culture

Populism apparently means “dumbing down”

And of course all the news media showed it…because as usual they look for the most ignorant comments made by a republican and trumpet them.

We really need to find a true conservative patriot to lead us in 2012, not a weak politician, relying on the latest populist tripe to whip up a frenzied few
